  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

This is how my 2.5 yr old daughter pronounces Apple Juice.

Is this a typical kid-like pronounciation, or should I investigate whether she has a lisp or other speech impediment?

My wife thinks she may have one, since there are other words she pronounces oddly... I think it's too early to tell.

But then again, I also apparently had a speech impediment at her age.

Thoughts?

Kirsty used to have trouble with the V sound using a b or a w instead. She also had terrible trouble with the 'th' sound too, but she said the V properly by about 4 and a half.

In the last few months, now her second set of front teeth are in, she has conquered the 'th' sound as well.

I think 2 and a half is probably too young to tell. Most people still don't understand my 4 and a half year old...though she does have a slight speech problem...she leaves the first consenant sound off a lot of her words. it's gotten MUCH better with about almost a year of speech therapy, but to a lot of people, it still sounds like she's talking baby talk.

If you're concerned, though, contact your local school system. The should be willing to do a free screening for you to check her speech and her hearing.

You should hear how my 6 year old speaks these days (she's missing 3 teeth). It sounds normal Redguard. Sean (he was 3 in July) still has alot of speach issues, but he's working them through. Keep reading to her, and saying those words the correct way. She'll get it.

I've heard lots of kids older than yours who have a hard time with S, so I think it's not at all uncommon.

My own son has a hard time with R. Cars become cows:D
Hahaha...try teaching them how to say "glass" and "grass" properly! ^_^ That's something I had to do. First the prefix, then the aaaa part.

Yeah gosh like everone else has been sayin, nuthin to worry bout yet anyways. "Wait for it" as my favorite lil guy on Mash says, Radar. There's gonna be plenty of thins to worry bout so try not to look for any hehe. I know that's hard to do, but I wouldn't be worried jes yet, there are some 2.5 yr olds that don't speak hardly at all by that age, so if'n she's screwin some words up jes do like folks said an correct er, or rather say the word correctly for er, then try an git er to say it jes like you. As you can imagine, in my house I'm not much allowed to teach my daughter how to speak hehe

just so long as YOU don't go saying it that way, she will straighten out.

If you want to see if she can say it right, ask her (nicely and gently) DD still can't say her bros name right ( has a th in it, she subs s) but we practice sometimes and she is soooo proud of herself if she gets closer, after like 4 or 5 trys at imitating me enunciating VERY slowly.
