I sort of owned an HTC Incredible running Froyo. By "sort of" I mean it was my wife's and I played with it. The instant I upgraded from an iPhone 4 to an iPhone 5 she replaced her Android with the iPhone 4. The Android was awful, constantly rebooting at random moments, it erased her entire photo library twice - fortunately I had backed up about 90% of her photos onto my computer but she still lost some, and then to top it off the touchscreen was junk, she could never get anything done with that.
She likes the iPhone infinitely better than the Incredible. Now, that being said, I've been told that the HTC is probably one of the worst producers of Android devices. I take that information as more of an opinion than a fact, mainly because the only people who have told me that are my Android fanboy co-workers.
I am indeed impressed with Samsung's devices, out of all the Android compatible devices they're unquestionably the best. One of my aforementioned co-workers has had at least four Samsung Androids in the past year, including the Galaxy S III, Note II and Galaxy S IV. He tends to like both Samsung and Apple, but since he's such a compulsive phone owner, he finds Samsung satisfies his need to constantly upgrade.
Personally, I find Apple to be superior. The hardware is high quality, the OS while becoming a little dated is still an incredible piece of software, and it's security is now getting the attention of the Federal government for use by U.S. State Department and Department of Defense personnel. The fact that the hardware and software are developed in-house (as with the Macs) I think makes for the most synergistic experience. Also, now with revamped iOS 7 on the market and the iPhone 5S rumored to be announced soon, Apple's hanging in there with the competition.
