Of course you did because the truth about Jesus means nothing to you and means so much to me as an atheist.
You want to believe that Jesus said this or that but we both know that no one knows what Jesus said if indeed he said anything.

So 'agnostics' really do 'know'?

How is it a completely irrelevant comment when I was replying to your comment?
You don't have an answer do you?

The topic was the death penalty, not the historicity of Jesus.

You said Jesus upheld the death penalty when you and no one else has any idea what Jesus upheld or didn't uphold.
Those who do are just lying to themselves.

Of course you will because just like all of the other religion you have nothing else, a few place names and that it.
Not to mention our martyrs, whom the Bible says:

Hebrews 11:38a Of whom the world was not worthy:

Then throw in a few holidays that you celebrate, time divided into BC/AD that you adhere to, churches and Christian buildings that you pass regularly, bumper stickers and various sayings you read, and a host of other things, and your point becomes the understatement of the year.

Not to mention our martyrs, whom the Bible says:
Hebrews 11:38a Of whom the world was not worthy:
A martyr is someone who dies needlessly for their most times imagined beliefs.
Then throw in a few holidays that you celebrate,
Most of which were started by previous beliefs.(Xmas)
time divided into BC/AD that you adhere to,
Not any more it's now B.C.E. (Before Common Era) and C.E. (Common Era)
Days of the week and months have nothing to do with Christianity.
churches and Christian buildings that you pass regularly,
Fear and dominance have been with us for years.
Take a look at these paintings that were designed to frighten people into believing,
God is love was the furthest thing from their minds. Doom paintings - Wikipedia
You only see your religion as it is today in the US but Christianity has been frightening and killing
people for a long long time before the US was even thought of.
bumper stickers and various sayings you read,
We rarely have bumper stickers in the UK apart from when elections are being held.
and a host of other things, and your point becomes the understatement of the year.
Apart from passing churches and cathedrals you could go a whole year in the UK and never see a thing to do with religion.

Religions use fear to control behavior, and to the extent that it works it's a good thing. No one ever died because they were afraid to misbehave. Parents use shame, guilt, fear (and corporal punishment) to control their children's behavior as well, sans religion. The prisons, graveyards, and nuthouses are filled with people that didn't have the benefit of loving parents like that.

The best way to cultivate obedience is via loyalty and respect. Fear can bring about obedience as well, but it's often a fleeting thing.

They are nothing to do with religion they are there as symbols of power men used the fear of Gods to enhance their own power.
While you're denying a good answer, deny this one too:

UK-Union-Flag.png

What's that symbol on your flag?

Still want to stick to this:
Apart from passing churches and cathedrals you could go a whole year in the UK and never see a thing to do with religion.
Or would you like another example?

The cross of St George the Dragon slayer, a throw back to ancient times when people believed in such things, worryingly some people still do in America.
