  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I know I can. I know I can!

I have to lose 8 kilos. Started yesterday on what is called The 13 Day Diet.

Congratulations, Larry. Please continue to encourage us all.

Exactly... You can. If I can do it anyone can. It's just a matter of time Some people expect to remove things that tooks months even years to put on. Time is a key element.

Little update. I've managed to keep my portion sizes wayyy down (about 1/3). I only eat if I'm sure I'm hungry and I'm drinking probably 6 to 8 glasses of water daily (okay, once in a while I'll have a diet coke for lunch or in the afternoon ) . Well, in just a few days I've dropped another pound. I'm leaving tomorrow for a trip out of state to visit with a group of friends (and one of them is bringing NY Cheesecake), so I may have a hard time with diet issues, but I'm going to enjoy myself and not be a little Miss Piggy at the same time. :) I'm just realllllllly encouraged that reducing the portions has already shown some results. Its really funny, but with the reduced amount of food, I feel just as satisfed with my meals as I did when I was chowing down on the bigger portions!!
Little side note: This thread is great because it serves as a little bit of an accountability factor for me. I feel that I'm letting my "team" down if I don't keep focused on my goal.
Still praying for all those who are working for better health.

That's good news Val. I think you can indulge once in a while just not every day and still lose weight.

One pound is equal to 3500 calories. In other words-you have to use 3500 more calories than you take in-to lose one pound. Most adults need between 1200- 2800 calories/day-depending on size & activity-to meet the body's energy needs.

Therefore, if you do 500 calories worth of exercise-you can take in that 500 as food-and thereby maintain your weight. If you skip that bowl of ice cream-then you will be one-seventh of the way to losing that pound! Losing one pound/week is a safe & reasonable way to get off those extra pounds.

My DW and I are changing our eating habits. :eek:I have read most all the posts about diet and not seen a lot about how the Bilble tells us to eat. If I missed it must be due to old age he he . We have picked up a book by Dr. Rex Russel M.D.(I dont know if that stands for me doctor or mad doctor) No really it is titled
WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT HEALTY LIVING
This dude had an incredabule amount of health issues. As he prayed and read scripture he learne what we should and should not consume. Let me tell ya it is not easy for me as I like alot of the things it says scritpurally we are not to consume.
DW fasted from Wheat and Sugar during lent and lost 15lbs for the Lord.Anyway we are to start doing what the Good Book says the 5th of July.
Now I pray that this is not offensive to ANY one. Myself and DW are corn fed peolpe and do cast a larger shadow. For that to happen it slides up on you gradually, then you start with the health problems.( am I the only one to see this, but the first four letters of health are H E A L ) I just know this is where the Lord has led us and I wanted to share. As I read other posts and see other good people in problems that could be resolved by this read. Dr. Russell's Three principals:
Principal I: Eat the foods God created for you
Principal II: Don't alter God's design
Principal III: Don't let any food or drink become your God
Lord love yall in your efforts I am right in there with ya

Dr. D’Adamo created The Blood Type Diets; and

Sharon, what I notice meriting attention, is just these 2 BASICs ~
A's lack sufficient enzymes (Catalytic proteins) for adequately digesting animal-proteins. ~
They're like the Vegetarian-grazers, then perpetually on the run... :p

O's (evolved/adaped - laterally), so they DO have
sufficient enzymes (Catalytic proteins) for
adequately digesting animal-proteins. ~
They're like hunting-lions; yup, after their hunted-meal, they just lie around, and snooze

(The rest of what he says, I wouldn't put much stock in; because
he also relates to the other kind of 'evolution'; that drives people away from GOD. No good)

Yet,
Dr. D’Adamo illustrates that, indeed,
we continue *evolving Laterally, within our sphere as humans*, thus praising  GOD.~
This is consistent, with other MD's, plus research, of which we continue aware...

Anyway, just some weekend-thoughts, for you to consider...

Bless  you dear Sharon  Annie

I am thinking about getting serious again with the exercise bit. Diet for me does not work really. I lost a lot on Low carb but I can't live without fruit and veggies and occaisional sweets so maintenance phase I always slip. Once I get my breathing into line I shall attempt to return to the deep water aquacize class. It is a very good all round conditioner and is easy on the joints. Jan

I am not on any kind of name diet, just low fat low sugar. I have a Pro-Form 900 Elliptical exerciser for exercising. It is lots more aggressive than the treadmill. I am starting out slow on it. I think it's healthy losing weight slowly. I just want to improve my health.

I don't own an eliptical trainer but have access to many machines and a pool at our local community health facility for reasonable memebership fees. I used to like doing that machine but find even that twoo hard on my hips. That is why I prefer the water work. Jan

I have a 'voluntary' aversion
to white refined granulated sugar

Root veggies can replace 'that' with natural sugars

Carrot cake using just the yolks from eggs
is real tasty
with no refined sweetening involved ?
Apfel-Kuechen, is another way of obtaining FOOD
without white sugar
Using, Margarine for the fats
because, they are HIGH in poly-unsaturated fats
The adding of salt to food is quite-unnecessary
it is, I hear just a human habit
a-leftover, from 'times'
when we to store food in salt to preserve it for later
MAYBE, we have grown to like it SWEETENING our food
'apparently very harmful'

I UNDERSTAND that 'a balance' is BEST
which, I 'construe' / 'imagine' / 'assume'
can be described also, by; VARIETY

small measures of, anything
seperately and combined
where consumption 'of-anything'
WILL NOT HAPPEN in large-doses
but will share the queue in good time
with MANY 'other' possibly beneficial foodstuffs

I enjoy filtered tap water with flavourings such as C-Vit
[something-like: Ribena Blackcurrant]
and fresh fruit, such as; oranges, apples and bananas
the latter caused a blood sample to show
that my potassium levels were high
but, because I LIKE BANANAS 3 or 4 at a time
my hernia-op proceeded 'anyway'

I wish, I could state categorically
the RIGHT ROUTE for my friends to take
but, I acknowledge that, I personally,
may be just, GENETICALLY DISPOSED
to remaining SLIM / very-lean
