  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

sentipente you said: No sentipente, I do not have a super-inflated opinion of myself. Nor do you or any of the others who have taken exception to my original post and following post, seem to understand analogy.

The negative comments made concerning my OP in this thread only serve to confirm the fact that arguement is prefered over discussion and understanding.

Since I can physicaly respond to only so many post/questions here in these forums, as well as elswere, and engage in a limited amount of presonal witinessing, my original intent was to simply challenge every reader of this thread to do somthing constructive in witnessing for Christ. It is clear that my detractors have not accepted the challenge but rather have chosen to make light of it.

Perhaps it would be well for all to become students once again. That is, students of Jesus Christ.

Respctfully,
Doc

Doc you make light of the cold hard fact that while you are busy playing moderator and responding to more than thirty postings from the time you challenge us to respond and witness, you your self have not even responded to the original posting that you asked us to respond to. You say you have authority to lord it over us to challenge us to witness, and this authority comes from Jesus the Christ? Yet Christ being a leader and fisherman of men always led by example....and this you have yet to do. Sounds kind of hypocritical. You would be best served if you would look at the pole in your own eye and not the splinter in ours.

First I should that I did not make light of anything. Especially something as inportant as witnessing for my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Please note the highlited sentence. No I don't have authority to"LORD it OVER" you or anyone else and I pray that I'm never guilty of trying to do so. However, being a diciple of Jesus Christ, it is my responsibility and His requirement, that I do all I can to spread the Gosple and the nearness of His soon coming. If that entails challenging other Christians to participate in witnessing, AND they accept the challenge, then many more can be told the Good News.

Before Christ returned to heaven He commissioned that "the gosple be preached unto all the world." In today's world that is a challenge that a single person can not meet. That being said, I know what I have done today to be His diciple. Can you ask your self if you have been His diciple today and get a positive, honest, response?

Respectfully,
Doc

So why have you not yet responded to the challenge in the thread you asked us to respond to? You have said your authority is from Christ to challenge us, so what about self? Why did you feel as if you needed to put us to the test, but not self? Would Christ call you to challenge us on the issue in that thread, and let you slide by? If so why?

You need to let us see you respond that you may not be hypocritical. Lead us by example and not by an pessimistic perspective of us. What you have unknowingly done is put your self on a pedistal above all of us by your elevated attitude (Gal 6:1)

AT, I have never been one to put myself on a pedistal nor crow about what I try to do for the Lord each day. But for you I'll try to put it into perspective.

First, it took all of about two minutes to post that "challenge," as you call it, out of approximately 20 hours per day that I'm involved in various forms of service to my Lord. I did not have an additional hour or more, to give a proper response at that time, nor have I wasted an hour or more of my time since that time except to let you engage me in the wasted effort of arguement.

Second, by all your wrangling and contention, you have caused both of us to waste more time than it should have taken to make a response in the first place. You seem to prefer to argue for the sake of arguement. I do not like to argue as a recreational activity.

Am I passionate about witnessing for Jesus Christ? YES I AM! Do I sometimes get upset when another who claims to be a Christian slows me down or trys to knock me off track in those efforts? YES I DO! Therefore you have no right whatsoever to call me hypocritical!

I will say no more. I have made my point. If you reject my point then so be it. I would suggest however that you would do well to give serious study to the current Sabbath School Lessons on Dicipleship.

Respectfully,
Doc

We get searching questions like this because we tell people the Bible is The infallible word of God as if God Himself wrote it. Plus teaching the bible as if its verbally inspired adds to the chaos. When Christianity relies less on expecting people to 'follow the bible' and more on people having a relationship with the Lord then perhaps we would start to make more sense to people like Egbert.
