As an extension of the tattoo and piercings threads, I was wondering if anybody has any physical scars that they'd care to mention---maybe something you picked up from a surgery, an accident, or what have you.

I have several......I have a jagged scar across the width of my right little finger, which I got as a kid when a buddy accidentally hit me with a piece of scrap iron; got six stitches in that one.

I have a slight scar across the elbow of my right arm, which I got when I was pulling a start-rope on a piece of machinery mounted in the bed of a truck; the rope snapped and I fell backwards into a mounting bracket and slashed myself.

I have a horseshoe-shaped scar across the shin of my left leg, which I got when an entertainment center I was helping move fell over, and the door flew out and the corner of it nailed me. That one bled profusely.

I have a slight scar on the inside of my left wrist that I got from an encounter with a phone pole cable while I was operating a riding lawn mower.

And I have two lengthy knife scars, about eight inches long each, across the middle of my lower back that I acquired while I was in the service and which I'd rather not talk about. I'll go far enough to say that it was not a barroom brawl, it was a combat activity, and I'll leave it at that.

Anybody else?

I have two on my left hand I got with a box knife and a cutting tool.
I have two on my right hand that still have grease in them.
I have a burn scar on my left forearm.
I have a scar on the corner of my lower lin that goes straight down about an inch.
I have a scar at the bridge of my nose from a ski.
These are the only ones worth mentioning.

There's a girl in one of my classes who has this huge scar on her neck kind of under her chin. I'm totally jealous.

being the naughty kid that iwas, i actually have heaps but ill mention the more bizzare ones.

ON the top of my head, I have a scar that apparently looks like Peninsula Malaysia ( where im from ). I dont remember how I got that scar ( any wonder!? ) but apparently when I was a little kid, I threw all my toys on the floor and jumped on them from my bed like i would in a swimming pool!! Authenticity of this story has not been confirmed cos i really come from a family of clowns :p

In my mouth, I have this pinkish line where I recieved 16 stitches. I got bitten by a dog on my right jaw/cheek and it tore the flesh connecting to the gum away... that was....weird. I didnt even scream when I got bitten cos I was totally shocked but I gave the dog the biscuit which I had in my hand after that.... o...kay.... o.0

Just above my right knee, I have a vampire-like mark where a cat sunk his fangs into. As a kid, my area had lots of stray cats which i used to play with heaps but they were a little territorial so i was holding this poor kitty and another came right at it. I lifted my knee in time to prevent it from getting bitten... and i have the "hero scars" to prove it till today

I had my gall bladder removed several years ago by minimally invasive surgery, laproscopy. They make several small incisions to inflate the abdomin, insert tools, and remove the organ. The upper three start in the middle and follow the lower edge of the rib cage. The lowest one is right below the belly button, the idea I guess is to hide it. My scar turned in on it self ( the medical term is in******ted), the Dr said this would go away, it hasn't, leaving me with 2 belly butons. This can be rather embarassing at the beach. However, being a Christian, I just explain; not only am I born again, I can prove it!

I have a few on my hands from cutting them on glasses I had when I was living on my own. hehe...they were really cheap glasses and they'd break while I was washing them.

I also have one on the top of my left hand, below my thumb, from my dog scratching me really hard.

This is fun! LOL

I have one on my thumb from a meat slicer when I was in restaurant work (PTL I was cleaning it not slicing food) One on my middle finger from a serated knife. One on my arm from a HUGE can of food - the clinic was closed so I taped it shut - didn't work so well LOL

I have one on my right shin from fencing (barbed wire) when I ran into the wire that was on the ground. My knees are covered with them from bike riding in shorts on dirt roads for most of my youth, and I have two on my bottom lip from my tooth coming through my lip (two different times)

Nothing so exciting as cat fangs though.

i have 5 on my knee from knee surgery

I have 1 under my arm.  When i was like 3 i was climbing the ladder to the attic with skates on and i fell down and sliced my arm open on a fan blade

I have one that looks like i got shot in the shoulder.  I had a cyst removed.  A year later i go back to the doctor and he says...what happened you get shot?  I said back, you should know...you did this.

That's pretty much it.

My husband has one on his leg where he had a pitchfork thrown through it when he was 6.  Then he has this x shaped scar on one of his fingers but he has no idea where it came from.

I have a long scar on my right elbow from when I was twelve and was hit by a car. The angels turned me at the last second and instead of getting flattened I just got a bonk on my elbow. Still, it required a wire and two rods to put me back together. I also have a tiny one on the back of my right hand where I succeeded in a dare for some guy to give me an eraser burn in the sixth grade.

My favorite scar is the one that runs right over my bikini line where I was sliced open and a big ole eight pound baby was yanked outta my womb. Nothing like being gutted like a fish, eh?

i have a chicken pox scar right in the middle of my forehead :)

that's the only scar i have.  this isn't because i was, or still am graceful by any means.  i've done a lot of stupid things, but am blessed that i never got seriously injuried...

if there's ever a 4-wheeler or snowmobile wipe-out thread, i'll have some stories for you guys ;)  but some of you guys have been through some pretty gruesome ordeals.. i could sit here and cry just reading them.  you guys are pretty tough ;)

I have a piece of 1/4" long pencil lead in my right palm from trying to catch a pencil I was throwing into the air. (4th Grade)

Most recent scar.......Last April....dove for a basketball during a company tournament, another guy dove at the same time and landed on top of me. Busted my chin open and left a 1/2" scar and bald spot in my gotee. Went on to win tournament, and $150 per player.  No regrets.

I have an inch long scar on the inside of my left calf. I got it in track when I was doing a relay handoff and caught the back of the heel of the girl I was handing off to and tripped. Did a nice fall, from what all the guys tell me. I sliced myself open with my spikes. It was like five or six inches when I got it, but most of it healed and all I have left now is just the little scar. I was bookin it in that race. :D Good times.

Oh, I have a little black scar on the inside of my left thumb where I cut it on the edge of a 55 gal barrel that was used for burning trash in.

Oh, and I also have a chicken pox scar in the middle of my forehead, too.

And one on the front of my left ankle where I sliced it on a rock while swimming when I was little.

And another on the inside of my right ankle where I cut it on a stick while taking a walk in my sandals while camping a few years ago. It's a couple inches long.

And finally, a small, but wide one on my knee where I think I hit another rock while swimming.

I think that's about it. :)

Cool thread!!!

Well, my biggest is about a 8" scar down the center of my back from surgery - I think it's ugly, but luckily it's on my back and not real easy for me to see! :)

Lots of little scars...I'm accident prone. My favorite is a triangle shaped scar on my right hand where I stabbed myself trying to pry something open with a knife - yup, lesson learned.

I have a 3 inch scar down the center of my calf in the front - looks like a surgical scar, but never had surgery. Can't even remember how I got it - sad, isn't it?

Now, bruises? I have some horror stories with bruises. I didn't know I could turn so many nasty different colors. And I bruise if I walk into a feather.

I've got a scar beside my right eyebrow from where I had a weird lump/broken blood vessel thing cut off....I remember seeing it and saying it looked like a football! (this was when I was 4 or so.)
I've got a scar on my knee from tripping on ice, a couple from volleyball dives, and one on my shin from running flat out into a fence made of this thick wire cord...I then proceeded to slam into the sidewalk which had a far too light dusting of snow. And then I burst out laughing (although it hurt like mad).
I'm such a clutz...
