Anybody else suddenly getting pop-up ads on CF?

I think the staff would rather have you not use adblockers although you're allowed to use them. Using them does not violate any forum rules.

Ads generate revenue for the forum that helps pay for the site's bandwidth use.

Hey Sister, I understand, though (for what it's worth) I use it on my phone too, along with Chrome, Edge and, of course, Apple Safari (I have an iPhone). They all work equally well on it, just FYI

I hate Edge, especially since it eats up CPU and memory, even when it is not being used.
I never used Chrome, and I am thankful Brave came along. I have been using it now, for quite a while, just because I hate ads.

Hi timewerx, "no ads" was one of the selling points of becoming a "Site Supporter" (here and on many other sites). This was a big deal back in the days before decent ad blockers and browsers like Brave were available to us.

This isn't the first time that this has happened here (ads suddenly appearing for Site Supporters, that is) and the last time or two that it did, CFcom had to do something to fix the problem.

Until then, Brave or an ad blocker will need to be used to block Site Supporter pop-ups.

Hey, David, boy do I have a double praise for you. Thanks again for leading me to Brave. Lemme tell ya.

Got a new phone last week so loading all the icons again. Setup up CF and of course here came the pop-ups, so reminded I needed to download Brave. Thought.. ah I'll get to it.

Well, guess what's going on "out there". Now we're getting ads at the bottom of our posts, or the bottom of a thread. And yesterday it attached one about singles hooking up with a seductive pic of a girl (pardon me folks) with her cleavage all hanging out. This on a Christian Forum!

Yep, so loaded Brave post-haste and all is well with my soul again. So double thanks.

Question. Can you or Michie tell me how to get in touch with the staff to alert them? I have never figured out how to even locate a mod without 30 minutes searching high and low everwhere. Am I the only one with that problem? I need yet another post deleted too (yeah, I know... Sigh!)

Hello @Joseph G, you could look at the very top of the board you are one and PM one of the mods or admins who watch that particular board, like here: Community Hangout (perhaps the mod/admin who wrote the Welcome post or the Statement of Purpose post would be good ones to contact).

You could also ask an admin/mod (or ambassador) for help with the problem/concern that you're having right there in the post that you are making, or in a separate post in the same thread. It might take them 1-2 days to find it and get back to you, but they will

Finally, you could keep a list of several usernames of some of our admins/mods/ambassadors and PM them directly when you need help right away.

You’ll see when you go to the CF home page, on the upper left of the page, horizontal lines. Click on that and scroll down until you see (tickets). Click on tickets. Look at the options to click on that’s the closest to your issue and click on that. Make your post (which only staff can see) and they will get back to you as soon as they can to resolve the problem. I hope this helps!
