Anybody else suddenly getting pop-up ads on CF?

I don't have any pop-ups here, but on websites where I do, I use the following browser (which comes with ad blocking turned on). It also works just as fast as Edge and Chrome do on websites w/o pop-up ads :)

Still no news on my end. *shrug*
If you don't want the hassle of the ads while you're waiting, then try downloading the Brave Browser. Once you log back in here on it the bothersome ads will all be gone, like they never existed in the first place. BTW, there's nothing to turn off or on, you just download Brave, install it and use it, as the ad blockers will already be up and running for you.

And, at least for me, it works just as fast as Chrome and Edge, and WAY faster than those two if they have pop-ups.

I am, in fact, logged in here on Brave Browser right now and it's working wonderfully :)

p.s. - just FYI, it auto updates itself, and if you don't like it, it uninstalls easily, quickly, and thoroughly :)

Hey Sister, I understand, though (for what it's worth) I use it on my phone too, along with Chrome, Edge and, of course, Apple Safari (I have an iPhone). They all work equally well on it, just FYI :)

Can I ask a dumb question? If I download one of these blockers, will I still be able to use Chrome, or will I have to use their browser? I'm kinda with Michie, I don't want to have to learn a brand-new browser, I'm technically challenged enough as it is.

Hello Brother, I use four different browsers in Windows 10/11 and on my Apple devices as well. Whichever one you open is the one that you'll use, and whichever one you set as "default" (which in your case is Chrome) is the one that will remain your default browser (unless you choose to change it .. and it can always be changed back too).

So yes, even though they are all loaded (or downloaded as an app) they do not interfere with each other. You can use them as you please and whenever you please. And there is very little to learn. IOW, if you can use one, you will, no doubt, be able to use any of the others too as they are very similar.

The reason to use Brave is principally the ad blocking, but it's also a bit more secure too. I like it, but I also like Chrome, Edge and Safari :) Like having many Bible translations, it's nice to have choices, IMHO.

Hope that helps!

God bless you!!

p.s. - just FYI, I often have three browsers open in Windows at the same time. It's just a matter of having different windows open, like you do when you have MS Word, MS Excel, Chrome, and Photoshop open at the same time. IOW, going back and forth between Internet Browers is just like going back and forth between windows when you have multiple applications open.

On cell phones and iPads, etc., it works that way too, IOW, the browsers work just like any other app, you open them, use them, close them and then open them again as often as you need to.

Ok, I downloaded Brave, and am logged into CF through it. Next question, I can't find a way to save the link to CF as an icon on my desktop. Any ideas? And another question. For all the icons that are there, like YouTube for instance, if I tap on it now to open, does it automatically open through Brave? Or do I need to go through Brave and create all new icons? Does that make any sense?

And God bless you, too, David.

If you look up at the top of this page, the little (sort of) rectagular button just left of christianforums.com/...... in the URL line is what you click on to save the page that you are presently on as a Bookmark. And if it doesn't show up across the top of your browser window after doing so, you'll find it by clicking on the icon with two arrow heads pointing right >> on the far right side of the top of your browser window.

That will get you started. More questions, ask away :) (and if anything that I tell you to do doesn't work, tell me and I'll figure out why)

You can find more stuff, including Settings and Brave "Help" by clicking on the three-lines icon at the very top right side of your Brave Browser.

I have an ad blocker turned on, so I see no pop ups. Plus Security Badger. Badger fights back door attempts, right now at this moment is blocking 22 back door access tries. CF is one of the worst sites I go to in terms of activity in Security Badger. Another hobby forum I visit trumps it though. So it's pretty rare for me to visit here by phone, I mostly use my PC. The sceen is too small on a phone anyway, imo.

Ok. I think I got it. I used the wrong word icon and meant shortcut. I managed to create ones for CF and my 2 Facebook accounts. I don't get pop-up ads on any other shortcuts so I should be good. Thanks!

One last question (you didn't know what you were getting into, huh? Ha!). Below is a pic of my screen. I can't find any of the buttons you mention. Especially wanna find where help is for the future.

Oh, and can you tell me where I left my glasses? *grin*

Hello again @Joseph G, I won't have time to talk until later, but the place that you'll want to go to next is this short video about using Brave Browser on a mobile device (which is what you are using Brave on, yes?). I was using Brave on my Windows 11 laptop when we last talked, and the mobile browser is set up a little differently. I should have asked you what you were going to be using Brave on. Sorry about that! Talk to you soon (Dv). --David
