One bit of trivia I feel compelled to mention: the scene where he points a gun at the guy, tells him he's going to die, then lets him live so that he will appreciate life more, is a scenario in the G. K. Chesterton novel Manalive! written in 1912. Palahniuk may have stolen the idea from there.

i like the idea of a club for men in order to de-feminize and un-domesticate the debt slaves our "elites" have created, but not the anarchical, self destructive side of it.

I would imagine that the only fight worth engaging in is the fight against the passions, which may not make for as engaging a Hollywood movie (they'd no doubt mess it up somehow), but would at least be appropriate to discuss...
