Was it avoidable though?
I contemplated other possible replies to my Pawn 'sacrifice' which started with 30. Rd1+ and felt you would have no other choice - too risky to do otherwise.
Yeah, I've got (had) three unprotected Pawns but they aren't (werent) easy to get to.

Lion IRC getting squashed, valiantly tries a last ditch attack which didn't work as planned. His opponent, calm and collected as usual, calls Lion IRC's bluff and stands firm using his Castle exactly as castles are intended...rock solid barrier...last line of defense. The Pawn promotion end game appears to favor Carls King - King Carl.
I'll post current board in a couple of minutes- we're up to move #36
I mis-numbered the last move.

I am new to playing like this on line - takes much more time than face to face.
I have hit the ground running in 21 so will have to review if I have the time to play this way.
Like you I have a passion for the game - so will have to ponder on if I have the time to play several games.
