any one listen to Rap ??

I know normally rap music is degrating to the uttermost part of our society but it is also a beautiful form of poetry. I used to only listen to whats on the radio but me being 19 i've heard it from the begining and the decline in the message is horrible. But something thats not on the air is Christian Rap i only get it online or at stores. Mase is a rapper that used to be "dead" but then got saved and his message in the rap game now is for the children so that they could have something good to listen to. If any oen wants to try some new music i recomend this CD its called Mase: Welcome Back. God Bless

Eh, Toby Mac does a great job of mixing elements like rap and rock. He even uses old James Taylor songs as background to his rap.

Not to mention LA Symphony or Grits. Both are very talented.

Do I prefer to listen to rap? Nope, I put it in the same category as opera. But I can see the musical merit.

Rap is not the absence of musical content. Many times it's the absence of melody but there is always a beat. To say that rap isn't music is to dog on every percussionist out there. It implies that rhythym doesn't matter.

Take out the lyrics, get rid of the vocals altogether and I bet most of you would have your foot tapping by the third measure.

I was of course only referring to the rap part of rap. I actually saw TobyMac in concert a couple years ago. Not by choice, but because he was part of the festival that I attended. He had a great band and put on one of the best shows I've ever seen. But, it was rap.....

Haha...yeah, I just try to remain open minded. I have teens. The only thing I won't tolerate is most secular rap, especially gangsta rap.

I saw Toby Mac also. I have to agree with you, the guy rocks.

Secular rap has really given all rap a bad name, but as far as the music itself goes, I can't say it's any better or worse than any other style. I really enjoy KJ-52, Knowdaverbs, Toby Mac, and Grits.

Oh...I can't stand a lot of "gangsta" stuff...most of the "black rap," I am not into. [Some is ok...and no I am not racist!] I just love the voice of most white rappers. I really don't get it...most people don't like white rappers, but that's my big thing in rap...!??!?!

That is an understatement...
One would be foolish to think that all rap is good to listen too...
That was not the point though....
You can not make a generalization about one type of music, without making a generalization about music as a whole...
Music was created to Glorify our God...
It was Satan who came in and distorted this truth..he is the Great imitator..
Rap should Glorify our God...just like rock, hip-hop R&P, punk, country, etc...
