I thought Friday's episode with Brent Spiner was pretty good. I'm really looking forward to the continuation of this story arc.

The local UPN station finally was picked up by my cable provider last month after nearly 10 years of waiting; so now I don't have to depend on someone else making tapes in order to see ENT. :)

I LOVE Enterprise. I didn't like it much the first season because I'd been a diehard Voyager fan. I thought the actors were stilted and just couldn't get into it. I only watched it when there was nothing else on tv that night. Somewhere along the way I started to get into it. Now I can't miss it. What are your thoughts on the following:

1. The whole T'pol/Trip thing?? Her marriage to the dude with the bowl haircut?

2. The trip back to the past where they were fighting the Nazi Aliens?

3. The new situation with those super juiced genetically enhanced guys? I forgot what they were called.

I'll cosign on the fact that I'm also having a bit of trouble getting into Enterprise since I also enjoyed Voyager immensely.

The actors are really boring to me. Trip and T'Pol are the only ones I find interesting.

But I DID see that episode where Brent Spiner guest starred and we got to see his genetically enhanced creations... so now I want to keep watching to see more developments.

I'm a technology freak. So I appreciated Voyager for having the most up-to-date technology. The strong weapons, shields, 9.98 warp, slipstream, etc.

Now I have to settle with Warp 4.

Last nights episode was great! Archer and T'Pol encounter the Syrrannites, a radical group hiding in the Vulcan desert, while the NX-01 crew contends with Vulcan power ploys.

Archer meets Surak in a vision

It was a great buildup for the next episode. I just really dig all the dealings with the Vulcans.

Now in the beginning of the series I didn't quite like the way Archer's char was so emotional in contrast to say Picard's cool headedness, but Archer's persona is really working very well in episodes like this one. You have the "logical" Vulcans playing their games while Archer is proving their logic in error every step of the way.

V'Las, Administrator of the Vulcan High Command, is determined to strike at the Syrrannites

heh this pic does not do the moment justice. I thought his ears were going to melt :D

I like the show but I rarely get to see it because we can't get any UPN stations in my area. Instead my dad records it off the satelite dish and I can watch 'em occasionally when he remembers. hehe

I like how this particular storyline kinda tied things into the TNG episodes with Data... :)

I think they purposely wanted a captain for the first Enterprise voyages into space who would epitimize the newness of space exploration. Don't forget Enterprise takes place before many of the other Star Trek societal perameters. For instance, There was no United Federation of Planets yet. This is space travel in it's enfantcy. If they had picked someone who was more removed emotionally, it just wouldn't have made sense. They needed someone who could convincingly play Captain Kirks predesessor.

But between you and me, I think Picard had a wide range of depth and emotion. He was by far my favorite Star Trek captain. I miss TNG. Although I must admit, I did grow up with the original Star Trek. And it was pretty outstanding for the time period.

I never got into TNG... but I did watch Voyager and they kept making a huge issue about the Prime Directive. Your point about needing a captain that would seem plausible in the infancy of space travel is right on target. It will probably evolve during the show that the Prime Directive evolved largely in part due to the experiences of Captain Archer. Since I never really watched any of the other Star Trek shows... I could be wrong. In any case, it all makes for good tv. :)

season 1 the prime directive was alluded to, and season 2 explorerd it a little more, season 3 archer had to abandon the infant prime directive because of the threat against earth. With major emphasis on the formation of the federation already in play I imagine will see something codified by the end of this season. Especially since it seems vulcan is going to undergo a massive change.

The Lord's Envoy (et all),

Did you see the last episode of Enterprise??? I just watched it today. The Vulcan High Command leader was showing a lot of emotion for someone who can't show emotion. Overall, I thought the episode was good and can't wait to see what they will hatch up next.

Are you referring to V'Las? Well the concept is that the Vulcans are straying from the teachings of Surak so yes emotions were running high. As we found at the end of the episode, V'Las has his own agenda which is to reunite the Vulcans with the Romulans. As I recall from ST:O, Spock said that Volcans and Romulans are closely related.

So now in future episodes from this point on we should see the story unfold of the great war between Earth and the Romulan Empire (2155-2160 AD). Currently season four of ST:E is set in 2154-2155.

As for the formation of the Federation, that won't happen until after the war with the Romulans.

I don't know the history well, I just enjoy the shows. Is Enterprise doing justice being a prequil to TOS?

Did that elderly vulcan, who took the Katra, from Archer look like Spock's great grandfather? Was he 'supposed to' look like Spock's ancient relative?

So that last guy was a Romulan? Did we ever see him before? I don't recall.

You seem to know ST well. Could any of them E, TOS, TNG, Voyager survived the way they did if not for the good graces and lucky breaks they've had at the last minute? If the Vulcans weren't called off, that would have been it for them.

When I used to watch TOS before any of the other series, I always felts as of Kirk was getting them out of their troubles. But as I watch the reruns, and think of the other series' also I see just how many times they've gotten off in the last second not by their own doing but by the other's involved.

So far it seems so. I saw some interviews on g4tech tv with ST:E cast members commenting about the series. The writers are trying to make the series true to the time line.

I have no idea. We may learn more about just who this guy was at some point perhaps. It depends how much they touch on the whole Vulcan story and their transition.

So that last guy was a Romulan? Did we ever see him before? I don't recall.
No this was the first intro of the Romulans in the series. Earth does not even know that Romulas exists. In fact the Klingons are unknown to Earth as well for another five or six years.

Well they have always tried to add some excitement to the series. You know, that last moment turn around from the brink of destruction and so forth... or in some cases total destruction but thanks to the manipulation of time, things always seem to work out. You gotta understand, allot of the old series, especially, delt with modern day struggles in our society reflected onto the show. They were always trying to make some point, sometimes good, sometimes distasteful from some viewpoints.

Yes, TOS was good like that. When I first watched it all those years ago I think those points were lost on me, but when I watched them in reruns in the 80s they made a lot more sense. Watching them nowadays you can see how campy they were at times. Not to mention how far we've come in special effects.

I got a good laugh out of that episode where the two characters created an illusion on a barren planet.. she turned into a gigantic cat and they had a magic wand that gave them their powers. At the end of course everything disappeared after Kirk broke the thing. Outside we see these 2 little tiny 'creatures' that were supposed to be them. Not only could you tell they were puppets, the strings were clearly visible too.

I guess each series has their own fine points and laugh points.

Took me a long time to see Captain Archer as Captain Archer. I kept expecting Al to show up. And then he DID in one episode, but not as Al of course! That was great. It was easier to accept Janeway than Archer. I also hated TNG the first few seasons, and I think the Borg was just a waste of air time.

Ya think the Borg beginnings will show up in ST:E?

What enterprise has been integrating from season 1 is that the vulcans have emotion, they just suppress it. So they can show it.

The last episode was sweet, and had a twist I hadnt expected. Can anyone say Romulan Nuetral Zone?
