It took me a while to get into this show but now that I am, its awesome. What do you think of this season so far?

I like how this particular storyline kinda tied things into the TNG episodes with Data...MrZoom said:I thought Friday's episode with Brent Spiner was pretty good. I'm really looking forward to the continuation of this story arc.
I think they purposely wanted a captain for the first Enterprise voyages into space who would epitimize the newness of space exploration. Don't forget Enterprise takes place before many of the other Star Trek societal perameters. For instance, There was no United Federation of Planets yet. This is space travel in it's enfantcy. If they had picked someone who was more removed emotionally, it just wouldn't have made sense. They needed someone who could convincingly play Captain Kirks predesessor.Faith_Warrior said:I didn't quite like the way Archer's char was so emotional in contrast to say Picard's cool headedness

But between you and me, I think Picard had a wide range of depth and emotion. He was by far my favorite Star Trek captain. I miss TNG. Although I must admit, I did grow up with the original Star Trek. And it was pretty outstanding for the time period.
they gonna do the whole season with 3 part episodes? The Lord's Envoy said:It took me a while to get into this show but now that I am, its awesome. What do you think of this season so far?
season 1 the prime directive was alluded to, and season 2 explorerd it a little more, season 3 archer had to abandon the infant prime directive because of the threat against earth. With major emphasis on the formation of the federation already in play I imagine will see something codified by the end of this season. Especially since it seems vulcan is going to undergo a massive change.Laurel Crowned said:I never got into TNG... but I did watch Voyager and they kept making a huge issue about the Prime Directive. Your point about needing a captain that would seem plausible in the infancy of space travel is right on target. It will probably evolve during the show that the Prime Directive evolved largely in part due to the experiences of Captain Archer. Since I never really watched any of the other Star Trek shows... I could be wrong. In any case, it all makes for good tv.![]()
Are you referring to V'Las? Well the concept is that the Vulcans are straying from the teachings of Surak so yes emotions were running high. As we found at the end of the episode, V'Las has his own agenda which is to reunite the Vulcans with the Romulans. As I recall from ST:O, Spock said that Volcans and Romulans are closely related.Laurel Crowned said:The Lord's Envoy (et all),
Did you see the last episode of Enterprise??? I just watched it today. The Vulcan High Command leader was showing a lot of emotion for someone who can't show emotion. Overall, I thought the episode was good and can't wait to see what they will hatch up next.
I don't know the history well, I just enjoy the shows. Is Enterprise doing justice being a prequil to TOS?Faith_Warrior said:Are you referring to V'Las? So now in future episodes from this point on we should see the story unfold of the great war between Earth and the Romulan Empire (2155-2160 AD). Currently season four of ST:E is set in 2154-2155.
As for the formation of the Federation, that won't happen until after the war with the Romulans.

So far it seems so. I saw some interviews on g4tech tv with ST:E cast members commenting about the series. The writers are trying to make the series true to the time line.MQTA said:I don't know the history well, I just enjoy the shows. Is Enterprise doing justice being a prequil to TOS?
Did that elderly vulcan, who took the Katra, from Archer look like Spock's great grandfather? Was he 'supposed to' look like Spock's ancient relative?[/qoute]
I have no idea. We may learn more about just who this guy was at some point perhaps. It depends how much they touch on the whole Vulcan story and their transition.
No this was the first intro of the Romulans in the series. Earth does not even know that Romulas exists. In fact the Klingons are unknown to Earth as well for another five or six years. So that last guy was a Romulan? Did we ever see him before? I don't recall.
Well they have always tried to add some excitement to the series. You know, that last moment turn around from the brink of destruction and so forth... or in some cases total destruction but thanks to the manipulation of time, things always seem to work out. You gotta understand, allot of the old series, especially, delt with modern day struggles in our society reflected onto the show. They were always trying to make some point, sometimes good, sometimes distasteful from some viewpoints. You seem to know ST well. Could any of them E, TOS, TNG, Voyager survived the way they did if not for the good graces and lucky breaks they've had at the last minute? If the Vulcans weren't called off, that would have been it for them.
When I used to watch TOS before any of the other series, I always felts as of Kirk was getting them out of their troubles. But as I watch the reruns, and think of the other series' also I see just how many times they've gotten off in the last second not by their own doing but by the other's involved.

Yes, TOS was good like that. When I first watched it all those years ago I think those points were lost on me, but when I watched them in reruns in the 80s they made a lot more sense. Watching them nowadays you can see how campy they were at times. Not to mention how far we've come in special effects.Faith_Warrior said:Well they have always tried to add some excitement to the series. What enterprise has been integrating from season 1 is that the vulcans have emotion, they just suppress it. So they can show it.Laurel Crowned said:The Lord's Envoy (et all),
