As a Canadian, I had NO IDEA that people outside of Canada even knew what Degrassi was. I thought it was just our little secret.
I remember going to visit my grandma on spring break when I was in fourth or fifth grade and Degrassi was on PBS, I think between the 12-2pm. That's probably why it was the first and only time I ever saw the original episodes.

Degrassi was the best, I miss it sooo much... I live in the US now so no one seems to even know what it is :(
it's not on basic cable...that's why. at least not over here.

my aunt's house in NY had the show though.
...and she also had channels all the way up to 900 something.

ya, i liked the eps that i saw.

I've been a fan of the classic ones for years. I've probably seen each episode of Degrassi Jr High and Degrassi High about 40 times. Not kidding lol...At first I refused to watch DTNG but then I caved and I've become hooked. I'm going to buy the classic degrassis and DTNG on dvd.

Crystal :)

I got this idea from the RFR thread. Last night I was watching Sex and the Single Mom on Lifetime. I'd never noticed this before, but on of the actresses on the movie also plays Kate Kerwin (Ashley's mom) on Degrassi. And in another Lifetime movie, She's Too Young, you'll find Miriam McDonald (Emma). There's also this Disney channel movie about modeling and in it there's a prepubescent Daniel Clark (Sean). Kind of interesting to see who all ends up in these cheesy cable movies!

I love Degrassi Jr. High and Degrassi High. I watched some of them when I was a kid, and then when they were playing a lot a few years ago, I got addicted to them for a while.

I'm not a huge fan of the new one-it's a good show, but to someone who was weened on the old ones, it just doesn't have the same edge or feeling to it. It's still one of the best teen shows out there, but some of the "reality" and "grittiness" that the originals had is gone...the variety in people's personalities and outward looks has also diminished.

I can still remember watching an eppy of the original where Spike had to care for an egg so she could find how it would be to care for her baby. For some reason, that epp stuck in my brain.

I love them both! I really like the new ones because I can relate to them better in my opinion but the older ones are cool too! Is it just me or has anyone else noticed a similar storyline order for the old and new ones??? Yes I know they didnt have a shooting in the old ones but there are alot of parallels. I live having sattelite so I can watch both! Just imagine if you had told Snake and Spike 20 years ago they would be married in the future and that all the adults would still be on Degrassi! They probably would've said you were insane but here they are!!!
