Any Advise for my problem?

My "at home" computer is an HP Pavilion dv7 lap running Windows 7 and with a core i.5.

It has one VERY annoying attribute that I can't figure out how to disable. It AUTOMATICALLY updates... and whatever is open at the time is just lost. On my other computers, I'm told that an update is needed - but I do it.

There must be some way to turn off this auto update, but I can't find it anywhere.


Suggestions?

Control Panel>Windows Update>Change Settings

Control Pannel -> System & Security -> Windows Updates -> Turn Automatic Updating on or off.

Or if you leave your PC on all the time, set it for a time you don't use your PC.

"Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Windows Update\Change settings" now choose from options as your convenience.

Thanks..... I often miss the good folks here....

I was active here for a LONG time and have a LOT of posts here; but there has long been an "issue" with staffing (upper level, primarily on the Admin and Advisor level) and the enormous desire to be uber 'politically correct' and to be non-offensive (to some; its the inequality that troubles me) - and while I was on staff for some time to TRY to bring an openness and tolerance, a spirit of embrace but, well.... I keep coming back, keep getting frustrated by what I see - and leaving. That cycle has happened 3 or 4 times over the years, lol. Perhaps if I just stayed out of the debate forums and stuck to computer questions, lol.

Anyway, CARM has evolved into a forum that is a bit better "fit" for me. But yeah, I miss a lot of the folks here. And yeah, occasionally poke my nose over here...


Again, thanks with the help. I knew it had to be some setting thing but just couldn't find out how to access that specific issue with Windows 7. I didn't have that issue except with my main, at home computer, the one running Windows 7.
