  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Also creationists like to talk about evolution can't create new features, but between humans and other apes what are the massive differences? most of the bigger changes are just modifying how existing features are, like limb shape and size and such, others are changing proteins that exist, I wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't little to no new proteins and such that were modified.

Yes. In a debate with Owens, Huxley used Owen's own data to show that there was no structure in ape brains that is not there in human brains, and vice versa.

I think they are talking about new features as in something that was not there originally and is introduced like say humans evolving wings and the stages for it to happen. There is great variation with humans that it is easy to get them mixed up as other species. Where does one shape of a bone end within one species and begin in another?

This is the lumpers and splitters debate that happens with taxonomy. Some want to keep large variation in one species that others may split into several species. How do we know, look at modern humans and you will see a large amount of variation. If a Chihuahua and a great Dane were found buried many would make them different species.

Several homo Erectus skulls were found together in Georgia which had the variations of what had been previously assigned to new species in the past, ie (H rudolfensis, H gautengensis, H ergaster and H habilis). This shows that variations can be assigned to new species too quickly and that there is a wide range in variation within one species.
