Capi,
The pro-gay camp feels very persecuted for what they believe in. In my opinion, I feel they tend to look at things in black and white: either your with them on human rights or you are against what they consider to be a human right.
Homosexuals look upon what they do as a human right whereas I look upon it as a sin according to what I believe biblical scriptures say.
People can speak against my beliefs all they want, and I will respect them. But I look at homosexuality the same way as I look at any transgression: Sin.
I will respect anything anyone does. After all, Christianity is about having your sins forgiven and following Christ in a personal relationship with God through Jesus.
I look to old scripture to reflect new covenant teachings and to reveal what sin is and the character of God.
I look to the New covenant for what I really need to follow. There is more to scripture than what one normally reads, more meaning to it, symbolically, but yet, it remains simple in what it really is saying.
A Christian will look at scripture differently than a doubter or an athiest or one who does not live by the Spirit.
If one fully believes in the bible, they will accept it for what it is and build their knowledge upon it and it is easier for them to accept all the stories than one who uses wordly knowledge, especially using their own knowledge, to gain greater understanding. Critics who try to criticize the bible will look at it differently than a strong believer with no doubt in their heart, or even differently than one who has doubt and cannot accept everything. If one is to gain full spiritual understanding, they must come to Christ as a child willing to accept the whole book to completely understand the spiritual meaning behind everything.
One cannot be guided by the Spirit if they have doubt in their heart, for one must trust in the spirit that God sent rather than the knowledge of the World, which is ruled by the Evil One at this present time.
At first, I was one who hated the bible and christianity.
Then I became a christian and considered myself a "half christian" or "semi christian"
Then I drifted away and kept lingering, holding on to the idea of christ as coming back but not knowing God or Christ.
Then because of my girlfriend a few months back and people, especially christians who doubted the bible, I came back to Christ and God, came to know them and understand them, was humbled many times, once on this forum as well, and have turned my focus in real life to spreading and sharing the gospel with some people I know. To share the gospel with everyone you know is very hard, some people won't even give you a chance and some will laugh at you for it.
Debating scripture is the biggest waste of time and not what christianity is all about, which some people fail to relize.
