I don't know why people don't know about the details of the President's executive actions to reduce gun violence. They've been up on the White House website since before he made the speech.

The actual orders have not been issued yet, and wording can be very important.

Section 8 provides for the establishment of a standing army. It does not preclude it.
The Constitution was written as a document which limits the powers of the federal government and decentralizes power to the states to avoid an overreaching and tyrannical federal government. Our founders feared that one day people like Obama might get elected.

The US was founded by people who hated a centralized govt. Socialism, even the mild socialism of many European countries would have been opposed. The reason the word socialism is so hated here is that the two greatest enemies of the 20th century called themselves socialist. The USSR and Germany.

Executive orders are the prerogative of the President, with certain restrictions of course. Obama has issued over 200 of them.

as long as those executive orders are legal and not in Conflict with the US Constitution (and we shoudn't just assume that they are legal) then it is the presidents right and if not ten it needs to be rejected.

No, it provides for a standing navy only. What it allows for is activation of those state militias established by the Second Amendment for a period of up to two years in case of war. Even assuming that they could form a standing army without violating Article 8, the Constitution says they can only budget for the two years. How do you make military contracts for advanced weaponry under those conditions?

And the Founding Fathers clearly believed that a standing army would lead to tyranny, which is why they didn't allow it. As Jefferson wrote of standing armies: “The Greeks and Romans had no standing armies, yet they defended themselves. The Greeks by their laws, and the Romans by the spirit of their people, took care to put into the hands of their rulers no such engine of oppression as a standing army. Their system was to make every man a soldier and oblige him to repair to the standard of his country whenever that was reared. This made them invincible; and the same remedy will make us so.”

James Madison did not think so highly of Rome, but shared the same fears of what constant warfare and a standing army would do to our liberty:

"The means of defence against foreign danger, have been always the instruments of tyranny at home. Among the Romans it was a standing maxim to excite a war, whenever a revolt was apprehended. Throughout all Europe, the armies kept up under the pretext of defending, have enslaved the people."

As far as I know this is the third Executive Order our President has put out.
1 Immigrants being automatic citizens.
2 Gay Marriage
3 Gun law.

The implementation of national socialism may be different from Marxisms, but both have their origins in 18th century Germany. The general principle of centralized authority and deference to the collective good over individual liberties are common to both. Under Hitler however, Germany became fascist instead of communist. Fascism and communism share the same ancestry and are offshoots of a similar core belief being taught in German universities at the time.

this was why i specifically replied to a specific individual and not the thread in general.. because some people just enjoy splitting hairs to be belligerent .

I should also point out that both Nazi Germany and the USSR, America's two greatest enemies are both north of 30° latitude. This is also true of their other notable enemies, Iran, Iraq, North Korea, China, Japan, France and England. odd- i first encountered the saying 15 years before 9/11

-perhaps im wrong on the religious immigration policy -fair enough, i'm unsure .
but if there is no law stopping the usa from disallowing immigrants whose philosophy is diametrically opposed to that of the usa -then i have an ever decreasing estimation-of American common sense .. it appears it has little if any .( to be fair allow me to dd that i view the politics of my own insignificant nation as foolish as a dangling puppet on a string .
