 Hi again...

Was wondering if you have "Lent" or obstain from meat?

Do you believing in sinning and the need to confess them?

Thanks for answering my questions... I'm having serious issues with my church and just have lots of questions about other faiths. :)

Baptists on the most part doesn't participate in Lent or obstain from meat unless it's for health reasons.

We do believe that everyone is a sinner Roman 3:23 and we are works in progress letting God teach us through his Word.
The Bible teaches that when we sin we are to confess....
"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
As Christians we have "an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous"
[bible]1 John 2:1[/bible]
[bible]Hebrews 4:14-16[/bible]
Confession is more than just saying we're sorry. It is a change of mindset and ways.
If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin,and will heal their land 2 Chronicles 7:14

Baptist on the most part believe in OSAS and believes that we still sin but it shouldn't be willfully but when we do sin we are to confess it immediately and make it right with God and with any persons that we have sinned against.

Praying to confess sins shouldn't also be a "blanket prayer" asking God to cover all our sins but we should live in a prayful mindset asking God to reveal to us our sins so we can confess them individually.

Wow great answer thanks!
I agree she is pretty smart :)

Do you confess them to God alone or do you need to confess them to your pastor?
In my case I usually do this alone, but have in the past talked things over with my pastor and then prayed about them.

Do you believe in Original sin?
No, not in the same sense as you do anyway.

Do you have Eucharist at your masses? (is it even called a mass?)
We call them services, and the Eucharist which means thanksgiving, yes we do have it, but no we do not believe that the bread is the actual body of Jesus nor do we believe that the juice/wine is the blood of Jesus.

Countrymom,

We do not do lent, however many baptist fast on a regular basis. It is not just meat, it is fasting and prayer. No food or anything else to feed the flesh while you are praying. Its a wonderful experience to deny your flesh and see the Lord.
We confess to God alone but there are circumstances in which we confess to other believers to edify one another.
1 Timothy 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

James 5:16 Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

Notice in the above verse, its says fauilts not sins. I wonder if that means anything! Just noticed that right now.

Yes we believe that sin is passed down from generation to gerneration. We believe that we are born sinners.

Well, its not called a mass or the eucurist. Its called the Lords supper. Its the same concept, only we use non-fermented wine.

Hope this helps you
