• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Another Noah's thread (no stoning please :))

But, it isn't about you.

Its about claims being made on a video, and who is making the claims, and how not only has the secular community exposed Wyatt as a fraud, but also a section of the Christian community, including organizations such as Answers in Genesis, (who's agenda is to defend the YEC position), are distancing themselves from Wyatt.

See? It wasn't about you after all. :)

What a relief, eh? ;)
Good meeting you.

But the thing is all they do is say that the Noah's Ark's location, and its huge stone anchors with signs and the size.
They do not disprove it.
All I am saying - see for yourself.
I do feel bad you cannot view this due to bandwidth limitations. Really.

BTW, I am searching now and do not see that his Noah's Ark was exposed to be a fraud.
No one is saying that.

What they are apparently saying that his claims on other things are too premature.
But not the Noah's Ark.

Yes, I would.
Just do not forget that in the beginning he is presenting some of the fake claims.
What would I give you in return? What do you want?
I want to hear your opinion and saying that this or that is wrong.
As I said, I am not an expert in this - but this thing seems like a real thing. :)

I might take a look at it.

Of course you know it was debunked before it was even made. There was no global flood, there was no Noah's Ark. It was all a myth, one that the Jewish people lifted from other cultures.

That's not what Jesus believed.....

That's not what Jesus believed.....

Belief can be powerful, justified or not. I can't say I know for sure if Jesus was right or wrong, but his belief had an impact nonetheless. Likewise, evolution has also made an impact. Perhaps it isn't possible for both ideas to coexist, but no one can deny the effect each has had on society.

Nice meeting you, too. :)

Ever heard of 'confirmation bias'?

That aside, and in the interest of getting to know each other better, I have to ask the more important question. Do you honestly believe that the biblical flood was a real, historical event?

If I say "yes" does that mean we stop getting to know each other better. :)

But who said that faith must defy logic?
Tell me, what is so unreasonable that there is another form of life that created us?

Why must faith defy logic?

I can give MANY examples, many of which you may not adhere to. But one that is pretty universal among Christians is the idea that an infinite being (Jesus) can significantly experience finite suffering.

Another one is the idea that an omnipotent creator imbibes us with free will. If he can create any universe he wants, with infinite possibilities, but chooses to make this specific one, how can we make any choice but the one he knew the result of when he chose to create this universe?

The 3=1 trinity.

Jesus=100% man and 100% god

God is omnipotent, but can't lie

etc.

Oh, one might think it is unbelievable that there is another life form.
OK. I accept that.
But it certainly not unreasonable.

I'm not against the possibility. Just haven't seen the one that makes any sense, logically.

Jesus spoke in allegories all of the time. How do you know that his references to Noah were only about the history of the Jews and not what actually happened?

Well, you accept Jesus as lord of your life, accept his death on the
cross as payment for your sins, repent and turn from those sins,
and you receive the holy spirit that helps you learn things. Then
you go read and study the bible.

That is how you will know the truth.

How is he supposed to do that without reading the bible? How can someone understand Jesus without the primary source of information?

Not at all. :)

This doesn't mean I won't be challenging your claims, however.

I'm still waiting for the specifics of the video, since I'm unable to watch it and request a recap of the video, (for the 3rd time).

Fair's fair. So, let me tell you a little about myself. I speak for myself and on my own behalf. The only common denominator between atheists, is a lack of belief in god(s). Beyond that, atheists are quite a diverse group. I don't dialogue in group think. I don't subscribe to any creed or dogma. You are entitled to your own opinions, and you have a right to express those opinions. I don't discuss the individual, (usually). I discuss the claims, notions and ideas they bring to the table.

What are some specific claims in the video? I'd like to know.
