The Bible says that God created the firmament/expanse/vault and called it "heavens" or "sky".
Where does it say that he created a "protecting layer of the firmament"?

Its the point of it, the whole Genesis 1 is about God preparing the world for the humans to rule over and to care about and as His temple to rest in.

You totally missed the point and instead think its a confessional creed about cosmology or even biology or geology.

I don't believe there is a firmament, I know there is a firmament as God tells us so.

Bible is not God. And Bible even does not tell us "there is a firmament", it only refers to it to illustrate some other point. Firmament as such is never the main theme or point.

And the existence of the firmament is not part of any statement of faith, neither of Jews nor Christians. So there is no reason for you to be even trying to defend it.

True, this is similar to "there is a firmament". My point was that its not stated as an article of faith, rather. Always only as a helping concept for another main point.

No where in scripture does it say 'God put them in order'.

Its the point of the text - they signify days, months years - because they are orderly. The creation story illustrates that God created order, tamed the primordial chaos (which is symbolized by waters in Genesis 1, by Rahab or Leviathan elsewhere).

It's called Biblical Cosmology ( look it up).

Bible knows nothing about poles, antarctic ice walls, limited distance of sight, oceans or equator. Also, the image, as most of your images, placed the sun and moon under the firmament, not into it.

If you wanted to make it more Mesopotamian/biblical, add doors and windows in the firmament, waters above, storage of snow and ice, heavenly chariots, highest mountains holding the firmament, ladders angels use to go up to heaven or down to earth etc. And the sun and the moon cannot do the cute circles in the middle between the earth and the firmament, but must be in the firmament as the stars are.

Ah! Not quite the same, and not proof when you have previously said that "the Bible proves everything."

Now you are saying "well the Bible doesn't say it ..... but it gives pointers."
A couple of verses or poetry are not proof that there is a protective layer of the firmament and rockets would not be able to get through it to the moon.
People who have been to the moon in rockets are, and provide, that evidence.

You could search for evidence if you wanted to. We have this wonderful thing now called the internet - you don't even have to leave home to look for photos, web sites, interviews, books etc.
Of course, you won't do this - or if you do, you won't accept what you find. Because even a photo of the earth taken from space would disprove your theory about a flat earth - and you have already said you are not going to give up that belief.
Even though it's not Scriptural and has nothing at all to do with salvation.

I've seen plenty of evidence for them not to have been to the moon & walked on it.
