Right now I'm not trying to meet people's ideals of what they consider so nice...because a bunch of people need to truly repent and realize what they are
If proving some science is what someone wants, I'd be still leaving them in a position of control as if they're anything but garbage, which is contrary to what I'm making obvious. But people have such arrogance with fancy credentials they don't wanna listen to someone they don't see as rich and powerful

I'm not buying that explanation.

I'm almost positive that ... seventeen years ago ... if I would have said I don't believe Pluto was a planet, that I would have been accused of denying reality.

This is doubtful. In Patrick Moore's book Guide to the Planets (published in 1955, or 62 years ago), Moore says (page 157),
'Altogether Pluto is a peculiar body. It is utterly unlike the rest of the outer planets, and it has even been suggested that it is not really a "major planet" at all, but merely a former satellite of Neptune,'

This suggests that there were always people who thought that Pluto was anomalous and that it might not be a true planet, and these people were not accused of 'denying reality'.

Can you present any of this evidence for discussion, maybe we can see if their reasoning is sound. A vague reference to a two hour videos is not particularly helpful.

Thanks. I've got no intention of badgering you for having different views to me, I'm just curious about the movie.

This bit stood out from your quote....

"There are reasonable empirical reasons to believe that Genesis really is a record of history and, in general, the interpretations that come out of this paradigm are quite rational."

As far as I'm aware there are empirical reasons to discount Geneisis as any geologist can demonstrate.

I'm curious as to what evidence they're referring to.

Really? you were there?

And all their children who made a model of the solar system for the science fair and left Pluto off got an A?

Do you really think that changing the classification of Pluto removes it from the Solar System?

Classifications are not objectively real. They are merely congitive tools we create for our own convenience. Nothing real was changed about Pluto just because the classification was changed

Did I say it was removed from the solar system?

Do you know the difference between an ordinal number and a cardinal number?

It was removed from being our NINTH PLANET.

But I'll ask you again, just to put you on the hook:

And all their children who made a model of the solar system for the science fair and left Pluto off got an A?

I think you would enjoy the movie, if only on those grounds. When it’s all said and done, people just have opposing views, biblical and non-biblical. The non-biblical camp seems to believe that everything happened by chance, with little changes over tremendous lengths of time, while others of us believe there could be very little chance involved with such a wondrous and intelligent design, beyond that which was factored in by God (like 'one kind of cat' changing somewhat according to its particular conditions, but still a 'cat'), and it all happened rapidly in relative short periods of time, just like the bible says (and as many of us take by faith). I happen to think that movie presents good reasoning for the latter, if reasoning is what you're looking for.

People have a bias
This is correct. One of the stregnths, perhaps the strength, of the scientific method is that it has a variety of techniques for recognising and eliminating bias.

Some want to prove something true and might use nasty unfair methods
Correct. Then again, they might not. The scientific method is usually effective at identifying and eliminating nasty and unfair methods. (Although, keep in mind that science does not generally "prove" things.)

Are people really spending so much time on this topic
I might as well turn on the animal documentary on tv and grab some popcorn
If you feel this way, why are you here?

Line upon line
Do you know about the science and language you're basing this on...and why you have that bias?
Who are you addressing this to?

I know what science I am basing my contributions on. I also have a competent grasp of several aspects of language. And I understand the character and source of my several biases. This helps me counter them to a considerable extent. Listening to contrary views does most of the rest.

Even as scientists might think they're making gains and discoveries or proving or disproving, the Bible tells us all this. Even if it seems like you're headed towards disproving, it could rather end up proving it soon after you celebrate

People see skin color, other traits, talk about various kinds of waves and trust their equipment and reading of it
People take sides and speak as if so certain, running right ahead while neglecting a number of things.
Black skin doesn't mean someone grew up in the ghetto. Wearing makeup isn't the same as not wearing makeup, but looks nice. Medical research keeps going and chemistry...they haven't gotten the pattern have they. And computer programmers and hardware designers keep doing as they do without seeing so much oversight.
My fleshly dad boasts of his intelligence and what sort of salary he's come to expect.
The system still seems to be standing.
Is this relevant to floods? Yes, in regards to science and whatnot. If you want to hear what's wrong with the way some scientists think

Yep, it was the specific reasoning I was curious about.

It would probably make more sense for me to actually watch it myself, it's a bit unfair asking you to remember every detail.

I'm not sure that you're in any position to be admonishing people about the way they think.
