ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING REPORT SYSTEM​

Reports are now private.

Members will still receive a PM notifying them that their post was reported. Members will still be able to see the report graphic under their reported post.

Members are allowed to contact by PM a moderator belonging to the team working your reported post. Staff has been instructed to provide you with insight as to the issue that the reported post involves. Staff has also been instructed to counsel you on measures you may take to remedy the situation.

We are not amused.

I'm not sure if the new management realizes how the member ship has been supportive of open reports. Having them closed to our eyes again certainly does little to enhance membership trust of the new authority.

What is the reason behind this change? Can one please be given?

I would have suggested making them restricted to staff, the reporter, and the reported individual... but still visible to all. What would have been the harm in that?

I understand the thought behind this change, but I am wondering if the mods have time for all the back-and-forth that will go on about every single report. The way I read the announcement is, if I am reported, I shoot a PM to the team in charge asking what's up. They PM me back telling me what the problem is. I PM them a reply arguing my position. They reply and try to make me see reason. All the while my bad post is sitting there waiting to be edited or removed. And the mods have to remember the PM replies for the reports ongoing from yesterday and the day before etc. It seems like a LOT of work for our mods, with alot of expectation on their time.

This is a very bad decision for staff as well - you cannot trust if you cannot see what is being done.

I will talk with Lee and his tech staff about making the infraction warning record an optional display and or relocating it. I agree, having it at the top of the page is not cool. However, I believe it is native Vbulletin, and thats why it showed up the way it did when his tech restored the record display option.

It may not be real timely though, I know the name change thing is going to happen soon, and that requires a fair amount of software mods, in addition to the DNS changes. Ie, foru shows up in many many different areas in the code.

MNPhysicist has stated earlier tonight in another thread that this is being worked on.

Please understand that we are NOT full-time staff, we are not paid, we are volunteers, and we are all members just as you are. We are working on a LOT of things at the moment. We are aware of this situation and it is being discussed.

As for old warnings and such, I know that stale notes will be removed. The Records & Resources Team will be working on this over the next few days.

The question remains though, if this is a new warnings system, shouldnt the old warnings be done away with?

I would think so...but even so...they expire in 30 days methinks...accordig to the new standard..but I "think" the old ones should be gone... don't hold me to that 'cause I'm not really sure....need confirmation from someone higher up than me...

I don't have anything on my Homepage, but I know I was reported at least once, because I had a Mod edit my post.

I really wish that more information about this decision was given. There are some very good reasons why the Reports should be open, and the only reason I can think of for them remaining closed is that sometimes people would debate in the Report threads (until a Mod would remind them to stop) and the occasional need to report a user because of their comments in a Report thread.

Is it too much to hope for that LeeD might come and explain this to us? After all, he might own the site, but without users there is no site. *grin*
