  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Have you ever had an encounter with who you knew in your spirit was an angel? I have and I thought it would be interesting to know if others have had simular experiences. I don't mean this to be a place to bebate this subject but to simply tell of your experiences. Feel free to post scriptures, songs, pictures or stories on this subject also.

I will begin by relating something I feel was an angel encounter. Several years ago a friend and I were driving in Nashville, Tn. on our way to a gospel singing. We were lost...terribly lost. We were stopped at a busy intersection waiting for a traffic light so we could procede. My friend was saying "I think we should go this way" and I was saying "I don't think so." Truthfully, neither of us knew which way to go. As we sat there waiting for the light to change to green, there was a tap on the drivers side window. My friend who was doing the driving rolled down the window and the man standing there asked us if we needed help. Now mind you we were just one car among several waiting there for that light to change. My friend told the man what street we needed to find and the man quickly gave him precise directions as to how to get there. I had been facing the man as he spoke but I turned for a split second and glanced up to see if the light had changed. It changed to green at that moment and I turned back toward the drivers side of the car. The man had vanished! He would not have had time to get into any of the cars waiting for the light and by that time they were all moving anyway. He was simply...gone! I looked all around and he was nowhere to be seen. And I thought why would he come to OUR car and ask if we needed help. Well, I believe God dispatched him to come and minister help to us when we relly needed it. In Hebrews angels are referred to as ministering spirits and I believe we encountered one that day. Angel or not, I know God sent that man to help us specifically that day and I have never forgotten it. How awesome God is!!

well...i haven't had an angel encounter per se...i'll explain in a sec.
My Ma has though...several....once was before she was a Christian...she woke up in the middle of the night and at the head of her bead was a demon, and at the foot of her bed was an angel praying....needless to say, shortly after she got saved. then there was this time where she was washing her hair in the sink, and an angel appeared in her kitchen. Then there was this time a couple of years ago, my sister was locked outside (it was winter time and it was about 1 am) an angel woke my mom up...He poked her on her hip...she said his arrows were beautiful...they were carved out of gold...extremely sharp...but he woke her up so she could let my sister in. (My ma sleeps wearing earplugs....my dad snores...)
I have had an encounter with Jesus though....when i was four years old...shortly after i was saved, my ma was really sick in the bathroom...she use to have IBS....and i came in and asked her why she just didn't let Jesus into the room...i peeked out of the bathroom and waved Him in...and instantly my mother was healed and she has never been that sick with IBS since....it's been 16 years since then.

Its circa 1975. I'm operating an ancient machine that was built before things like safety guards were mandated.

I dropped a doohickie into the dark bowels of the machine. I knew it had landed on exposed electrical connections so I turned it off at the control panel, bent over the steel shell and reached down to grope around in the darkness to retrieve the doohickie. Half way down, an invisible hand wrapped around my wrist and gently, but firmly, held me back from reaching all the way down. I straightened up and thought, "Was that an angel?", but I wasn't sure. I tried again, and again the hand stopped me. This time I was nearly convinced that it was an angel, but just to be sure, I tried a third time. I didn't intend to reach all the way down, I just wanted to see if the hand would stop me while I was paying attention and it did.

Now he has my full attention and I start looking around the machine to see what the problem is. Then I notice that the machine was still plugged in. That normally wouldn't be a problem as I've worked on it by just turning it off many times. I unplugged it and used a flashlight to see where the doohickie was and very carefully retrieved it. It turns out that it had landed in an area I hadn't worked on before. These terminals were on the input side of the circuit and were still hot with the switch off because they were in front of it. I would have had 440 volts shoot through me.

BTW, I haven't worked on any electrical machine without unplugging it since then, whether I needed to or not.

That is a wonderful testimony Virginian...thanks so much for sharing it. God's love and care for us is so amazing isn't it? God bless you!

my mother and i were driving to the gulf coast about 12 years ago. I was heading to buy a computer and she needed to do some shopping so i said come along. We passed by this man on the side of the road in a suit that was by a tow truck w/ a car with the hood up, there was trash all around on the ground but when we passed I felt like we needed to go back. My mother who is normally apprehensive about stopping turned and said We need to go back to check on Him.

By the time we got to the nearest median and frove back up to where he was suppossed to be there was no man, no tow truck, no car, and no garbage on the side of the road.
it took us about 10 minutes to get back to where he was supposed to be...when we got back down the road to where we should have been there was a three car pile up with several fatalities. I believe that day God sent an Angel to keep us safe

This is an awesome thread, Joy! How blessing it is to read these posts. Here's one from me. I posted it in another forum on a thread about angels so I just copied it.

I was twenty four years old and so heart injured, young and naive. I had my first child at nineteen and my fourth at 24 ... I didn't plan them ... I figured that was the Lord's territory and that worked for me. For seven years I'd had the literal hell pounded out of me. It wasn't pretty. I left the man over and over again but had four little kids and no where to go. I tried everything but was lost to it. Life was bigger than me. You see, in the seventies things were different than they are now. If you called the police they came, threw him in jail, he bailed out and things got really bad then. I slept in closets, under porches, anywhere near my home or children when he forced me out. When someone is shooting a 347 at you you run from the house to take it away from your children. You don't think about it. Well, this time he locked me out, changed the locks, called the police and I was charged with abandonment. That was the last rime I saw my children for many years ...

I'll spare you the long drawn out story of it all. I had very little job experience and didn't have a clue. I started going up and down businesses applying for a job. Right on the edge of town a little bar called The North Fork Saloon gave me a job. The only thing after it is vast miles of forest and and a mighty awesome river. It was a biker bar (burned down now) that lived to be able to ride that road until it turned to gravel. Through it I developed a love for Harley's and bikers that became a lifetime friendship.

So I'd worked there about four months (drinking BV straight out of the bottle the whole time ... took me years to figure out that was because after seven years with an alcoholic that's what I knew. I really rarely drank until then ...) Needless to say I was a mess living by accident. Just trying to drown the pain. The first thing my "husband" did when he changed the locks was become the Family Counselor's fishing buddy. I told you ... things were different then. So, anyway after four months a really nice man bought the bar ... exact same age as me ... he decided he wanted to marry me ... I was having no part of that ...

(skip in between) ... we got drunk, went to Idaho and got married ... They took my kids at this point I just didn't care, anymore ... I had nothing to fight with ... this man married me (don't get me wrong we were married for ... $15,000 dollars later still I didn't see my children. I couldn't understand ... I came from a home that was so different, grew up without a mother so was pretty naive ... my dad was an angry man but took really good care of us kids ... he just completely sheltered us from the world so we were not equipped to go into the world ... so one day ... the pain was just too much ... Ranee was nine months old when they took her from me ... I was still nursing her ...

so anyway, I got sooo drunk ... took my now father-in-law's truck and just started driving ... I ended up on Morias pass at Glacier Park in the middle of a blizzard that was just blinding ... I went in the ditch ... and there I was ... stuck way up there in the dark in a blizzard ... barefoot and in shorts and a t-shirt ... there wasn't a chance of a chance anyone would find me ... I would probably freeze to death ... and I was quite sober by now ...

I didn't even have time to get cold when here came these headlights ... some old man with snow white hair ... he asked me how old I was and I lied and told him I was a minor (didn't want to die as bad as I thought ... the survival mode was still kicked in) ... he said ok and very very slowly we made our way down and he took me all the way to my front door ... I don't remember any of the conversation or details of the ride ... I just know I was home and safe and not even cold ... my angel ...

Kevin was my first convert. We worked as grunts for a home builder.

One day the whole crew was unloading building supplies from a semi trailer. Kevin's job was to move the boxes to the rear of the trailer so we could pull them off and store them in a nearby house. For some reason, there was a dusting of sand on the floor of the trailer. Kevin liked it because it made it easier to slide the boxes.

Kevin slid a box for me to take. As I was dragging it off, I looked at the other guys. They were looking into the trailer with dumb founded looks on their faces complete with dropped jaws. My box blocked my view, so I looked around it and saw Kevin getting up off the floor. I figured that he had slipped and fallen backwards to the floor, but I wondered why I didn't hear him hit the wood deck. I asked one of the guys what had happened and he said that Kevin had fallen in slow motion. I asked Kevin later what had happened and he said that somebody caught him from behind under the arms and lowered him to the floor.

Lilmiss it breaks my heart that you had to go through all that but PTL, God was with you even then and sent an angel to rescue you. God's love is just so amazing and so ever present. We can stray far from Him but He never leaves our side. PTL!!

It was during praise and worship and I could hear someone singing with me and when I turned around there was no one close to me. So I knew it was angel that came to praise with me. Glory to God.

All the Glory Belongs to God!

PTL toolite!! Thanks for sharing that. An angel to sing with you... how amazing is that!!! God bless you!
