Because ducks are just awesome like that.
Imagine there really is a God. Imagine there really is a devil.
Define Pagan.Would you trust pagan records?
No, but the fact that only the Jewish recorded such an amazing event would indicate their story is less than truthful. Why didn't the Greeks or any other nation record such a thing? You claim that the local folks with records were 'obviously over exaggerated' Guess you have a hunch or a feeling?
Wait, what? Then you cite reasons why the prophesy was actually fulfilled (not that it matters how, long as it happened!) ...another hunch?
I still can't find any record of this event. Although wikipedia indicates that around the time you are talking about, the the Jews were under roman rule. After which they were dispersed throughout the region. Jerusalem is a powerful and influential city, and the basis of all the Abraham religions, I can think of a few reasons why Alexander spared it, although for the above reasons, I'm fairly certain the kneeling before God part was made up.The nearby powers got clobbered. Ask Tyre.
What a load of bunk. The Israelites were conquered and abused a famously large amount of times. If you choose to believe this was caused by them being disrespectful to God, then that's your choice. But the adherence to God (any God) of a nation has historically had no effect on the events that befall them. Except maybe the Roman empire...Any 'defeat' of Israel was allowed and came from God. No earthly power can defeat His people, no matter how small! Impossible. So whether Rome lowered the boom for sins, or previous powers like Babylon, they did so strictly because they were instruments of God. Babylon lasted about 70 years as a power that ruled the world that concerned Jerusalem. That was how long the captivity was to last. When their usefulness was over, they were flicked off into the dustbin of history. Such is the story of man from the start...real history. Without God's hand behind the scenes, one cannot even begin to understand history.
I don't believe a word of that. Evidence please? It was an oral tradition, one told around campfires and the like. Passed down for 1,000 plus years. Who crosschecked it? How did they even do that in the first place? There could be some truth to pagan historical characters. Not like it was cross checked by a few dozen scribes and preserved as a sacred record like scripture or anything.....
