I probably should have mentioned, I pay the tolls and the 40 dollars a week cargo insurance out of the mileage pay. So, I'm not making much. After gasoline, figure about half of what I said.

But, it beats working a regular job.

it is determined by your earnings over your lifetime, [a]
if you have dependents etc.

Here, these benefits are always under changes;
and currently, you don't get FULL benefits unless you wait to collect at age 70
But if you wait that long, they may not be there then,
which is why we are taking partial benefits next year at age 62.

We don't have allowances for transportation worked in automatically (they offer a transport van for a small fee),
and until age 65 we must pay for health insurance
(even after that, you sometimes need to buy supplements)....
or pay co-pays for certain services.

ENJOY it Dave
(I hope and pray it is sufficient for your needs and economy there).
The LORD provides for what we need....
and what He wishes to bestow for our GOOD.
I doubt many 'seniors' live a 'fat' lifestyle,
unless they were well off to start.

God bless you
~ and thanks for this thread; it has blessed me much this week

[a] ...same here

My view of £129 was a comparative one ....
[with past income]
it being, @ one-fifth / 20% of past weekly income
[at best and, one-third, at worst]
With no-chance, to maintain past 'lifestyle'

I so agree, that only those that began retirement 'richly endowed'
would be unaffected [financially] by poor pension payouts

Yes MJ Bro' you DID mention that **
I did so much enjoy being self-employed /sole trader
and I preferred-it, to working regular hours for someone-else

Subject: WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND...
From:

WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND...

One day a man saw an old lady, stranded on the side of the road,
but even in the dim light of day, he could see she needed help.
So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out.
His Pontiac was still sputtering when he approached her

Even with the smile on his face, she looked worried.
No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so.

Was he going to hurt her? He didn't look safe; he looked poor and hungry.

He could see that she was frightened, standing out there in the cold.
He knew how she felt. It was that chill which only fear can put in you.

He said, 'I'm here to help you, ma'am.
Why don't you wait in the car where it's warm?
By the way, my name is Bryan Anderson.'

Well, all she had was a flat tire, but for an old lady, that was bad enough.
Bryan crawled under the car looking for a place to put the jack, skinning his knuckles a time or two.
Soon he was able to change the tire. But he had to get dirty and his hands hurt.

As he was tightening up the lug nuts, she rolled down the window and began to talk to him.
She told him that she was from St. Louis and was only just passing through.
She couldn't thank him enough for coming to her aid.

Bryan just smiled as he closed her trunk.
The lady asked how much she owed him.
Any amount would have been all right with her.
She already imagined all the awful things that could have happened had he not stopped.
Bryan never thought twice about being paid.
This was not a job to him. This was helping someone in need,
and God knows there were plenty, who had given him a hand in the past.
He had lived his whole life that way, and it never occurred to him to act any other way.

He told her that if she really wanted to pay him back, the next time she saw someone
who needed help, she could give that person the assistance they needed,
and Bryan added, 'And think of me.'

He waited until she started her car and drove off.
It had been a cold and depressing day, but he felt good as he headed for home,
disappearing into the twilight.

A few miles down the road the lady saw a small cafe.
She went in to grab a bite to eat, and take the chill off before she made the last leg of her trip home.
It was a dingy looking restaurant.
Outside were two old gas pumps. The whole scene was unfamiliar to her.
The waitress came over and brought a clean towel to wipe her wet hair.
She had a sweet smile, one that even being on her feet for the whole day couldn't erase.
The lady noticed the waitress was nearly eight months pregnant,
but she never let the strain and aches change her attitude.
The old lady wondered how someone who had so little could be so giving to a stranger.
Then she remembered Bryan ..

After the lady finished her meal, she paid with a hundred dollar bill.
The waitress quickly went to get change for her hundred dollar bill,
but the old lady had slipped right out the door.
She was gone by the time the waitress came back.
The waitress wondered where the lady could be.
Then she noticed something written on the napkin.

There were tears in her eyes when she read what the lady wrote:

'You don't owe me anything. I have been there too.
Somebody once helped me out, the way I'm helping you.
If you really want to pay me back, here is what you do:
Do not let this chain of love end with you.'

Under the napkin were four more $100.

Well, there were tables to clear, sugar bowls to fill, and people to serve,
but the waitress made it through another day.
That night when she got home from work and climbed into bed,
she was thinking about the money and what the lady had written.
How could the lady have known how much she and her husband needed it?
With the baby due next month, it was going to be hard....

She knew how worried her husband was, and as he lay sleeping next to her,
she gave him a soft kiss and whispered soft and low,
'Everything's going to be all right. I love you, Bryan Anderson.'

There is an old saying...

'What goes around comes around.'
Today I send you this story, and I'm asking you to pass it on.
Let this light shine.

God works in mysterious ways and sometimes puts people in our lives for a reason.

Don't delete it, don't return it... Simply, pass this on to a friend, i just did...

We cannot change the past, but we can change our attitude toward it.
Uproot guilt and plant forgiveness.
Tear out arrogance and seed humility.
Exchange love for hate --- thereby, making the present comfortable
and the future promising.

"Civil disobedience. . . is not our problem.
Our problem is civil obedience.
Our problem is that numbers of people all over the world
have obeyed the dictates of the leaders of their government
and have gone to war, and millions have been killed because of this obedience.
Our problem is that people are obedient all over the world
in the face of poverty and starvation and stupidity, and war, and cruelty.
Our problem is that people are obedient while the jails are full of petty thieves,
and all the while the grand thieves are running the country.
That's our problem."

When we rise in the morning and listen to the radio or read the newspaper,
we are confronted with the same sad news:
violence, crime, wars, and disasters.
I cannot recall a single day without a report of something terrible happening somewhere.
Even in these modern times it is clear that one's precious life is not safe. No former generation has had to experience
so much bad news as we face today; this constant awareness
of fear and tension should make any sensitive and compassionate person
question seriously the progress of our modern world.

“Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life.
It turns what we have into enough, and more.
It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity.
It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home,
a stranger into a friend.
Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today
and creates a vision for tomorrow. ”

What is 'enlightenment' ?

~ a light that drives out the darkness
~ sudden realisation
~ new understanding
~ acquired wisdom

All, of those things

The 'spirit' translates worded reality, to each of us uniquely
and gives each of us a piece of the 'jigsaw of knowledge'
When, we share our knowledge [together] ~we 'grow' in understanding

Who ? likes Gummie Bears / Jelly Beans /Jelly Babies / Hard Gums / Jello ???

Do you KNOW 'where' they come from / HOW they are made ???

Let me shine some 'light' upon this mystery

But....but...I LOVE gummie bears!! I am so grossed out now.
In case you were wondering what gummy candies are made of...
Gummies or jelly sweets are a broad, general type of Gelatin-based, chewy candy.
Gelatin is a translucent, colorless, odorless, and nearly tasteless substance
that is made by prolonged boiling of skin, cartilage and bones from animals.
It's made primarily from the stuff meat industries have left over
-we're talking about pork skins and cattle bones.
Yummy !!!

It's the philosophy of using the whole animal.
If this is news to you, it may shed new light on your Great Aunt's Jell-O mold.
And if you love eating chewy candy,
you may think twice before chowing down on those gummy worms.
:D

In Pic: Faith, who was born without front legs,
surprises those walking down Michigan Avenue in Los Angeles.
Born without front legs to a junkyard dog around Christmas 2002, Faith, the puppy,
was rejected and abused by her mother. She was rescued by Rueben Stringfellow..
Rueben turned Faith over to his mother, English professor, Jude Stringfellow.
At first the family had to carry Faith to keep her off her chest and chin.
But with peanut butter and practice, Faith learned to walk on her two hind legs.
Since that day on March 22, 2002, Faith has done the talk show circuit,
gone on tour with Ozzy Osbourne and been named an honorary Army sergeant.
Jude Stringfellow has become a motivational speaker, written two books about Faith
and is working on a third, "Faith Walks."
