  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

An open debate to Atheists on a creator.

On one hand, a genome speciating into two is something we have seen occur naturally many numerous times,

but we never seen evolution of a new kind of creature. just variation of the same kind.

so mutations is exactly evidence for common descent - on the other hand, an unseen, unexplained and undefined entity creating any genomes whatsoever let alone two nearly identical genomes has never been observed.

incorrect. we did seen it in the lab.

You do realize that all you are suggesting is that if life was created, it was created to have the appearance of evolution.
not realy. its just mean that many creatures were very similar to each other in their creation event. thats it.

Okay, now we've finally gotten back to where we were the last time we discusses this. Now on to the question I actually asked: if this possibility is the correct explanation, and humans and chimpanzees once had nearly identical genomes, what will we find when we compare the human genome to that of an orangutan or a baboon?
if its true then under the creation scenario we cant know (since we can know how much different the original genome was). on the other hand: evolution doesnt predict it either. for instance: if the orangutan genome was more similar to human genome we can just change the phylogeny.

by the way: i have look at you post in biologos in general. from your post:

"An additional complication: our DNA has two complementary strands, and we do not know which strand a mutation occurred on"

so how do you solve this problem?

2) have you checked for CpG transition (highest rate mutation) in other creatures too? (say a cow vs dolphin).
