  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Would you adopt a special needs child?
I think that I would have to have a connection to that child before hand. It takes a very special person to raise a child with one or more handicaps. I have worked with special needs children in my clinicals, and I know that I do not have the patience to do that full time until I absolutely have to. I think this is where you have to draw the line between what you think might "sound good" and what you know you can actually do. You have to do what would best benefit the child. However, if God placed it upon my heart to adopt a child with special needs, I would definitely do so knowing that He is going to provide me with the care and patience required to give that child the life he/she deserves.

What is the best thing about the county you are from?
Uummm... It's quite at night? ^_^ No really... It's the people. There is nowhere else on Earth that you can find people like where we live. They are very entertaining, and they treat you like family (most of the time) even if they do not know you.

do you beleave a man of over 18 should live off his mom and dad or should he get a job and his own place? and why?
I believe it depends on the situation. If the male is going to school full time, I do not see anything wrong with his mother and father helping him. But, if the male is not going to school, yes he should get a job to provide for himself.

What do you think of labor unions?
I think that they can be a good thing, but like anything else they can also be abused. I plan to join a teacher's union when I have a job. :)

Do you think it is fair that GM, Ford, and Chrystler have to deal with unions in this country, but Toyota, Honda, and Nissan do no?
I wasn't aware that they didn't. Why do they not have to deal with unions?

Their work forces aren't unionized. They came in and hired people, but did not allow them to unionize. This is what makes them be able to out compete the American brands because the American automotive companies got dragged into bad deals with the unions in the 1950s and they are just now trying to effectively renegociate with the union. This is why GM must stand strong and not back down. If they back down they will never again be the great automotive giant. They will slowly fade away into a much smaller company like Ford is now doing. If the unions don't make necessary concessions then GM will have to shrink and lay off thousands and thousands of jobs in this country and start relocating itself outside of the nation. GM is stuck with 1950s-style pension and healthcare deals and is now trying to update itself to make itself more competitive, its not going to stop putting into retirement and healthcare, it only wants to switch over to a 401k style retirement plan and turn over responsibilty to the union to take charge of a healthcare fund for its members. They would still be great jobs with great benefits, just a more modern style, this is the norm for most American companies. GM, Ford, and Chrystler are just stuck in a rut right now and if they don't get more competitive they will continue to strink and get rid of jobs.

I also don't care much for unions because they have outlived there usefulness. We now have laws and a government that is willing to keep an eye on companies. Unions take money from their employees (in many jobs you have to join a union or you can't get a job there and therefore if you join a union you HAVE to pay the dues!) and then what do the workers get in return? What do the unions do with the money? The union bosses buy nice things, and the unions give millions of dollars to causes and politicians that many blue collar workers would not support themselves.

My Dad has to be a member of a union to have his job. I saw on the news today where my Dad's union has decided to endorse and contribute to John Edwards. Now I don't know how well you know my Dad, but he is a very hard working individual, he is a strong Christian - he is the leader of our church, he is a strong Conservative and HE THOROUGHLY dislikes liberals and John Edwards and I know my uncle and other people I know are in the same boat.

Do teachers have to join a teacher's union to be a teacher in the state of WV?

I will go ahead and tell you if you don't already know - My political role model is Margaret Thatcer, and one of the things I am truly inspired by her or truly thankful for her is that in the UK, when she came to power unions could bring the country to a halt. In fact there were union strikes and brought the nation to a halt. The firefighters when on strike and refused to help people and put out fires, so what did Margaret Thatcher do? She brought in the military and they fought fires and rescued people from burning buildings until the strike was over. She would not let the unions continue to damage Britain. I read somewhere that when she came to power 62% of the British workforce was unionized, when she left less than 25% of the British workforce were members of a union.

In case I still haven't made my point on unions (I gotta hit that horse one more time....lol), anyone who joins a union that doesn't have to in order to keep their job, I lose a lot of respect for that person. I have even told my parents that if my father didn't have to be in a union and chose to anyway, I would be very disappointed.

Well I guess I have beat this subject around enough for this post...lol

Another post.....lol

Before you ask though, I do think unions were very necessary when they started and continued to be for much of the 20th century. They now do more harm than good though. Its time to close this chapter in American history and finally Americans seem to be heading in that direction.
