  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

The guy who sold or lost literally EVERYTHING for his "bullet ball" game just broke my heart. He kept saying, "No... you don't understand..." I felt like he was going to leave that place and commit suicide or something. :(

That red-headed woman judge? She's unstable! She seriously needs some lithium or something. She has to have something wrong with her, or else the editing is being REALLY unflattering to her. I could not believe her reactions. Drama queen much??

Yeah, the bullet-ball guy had me concerned too. I don't understand how he could have been working on this for 26 years and now he says he has nothing but the game.

Oh dear, I do have worries about him.

I don't agree about the woman judge. But I've also only seen it one week.

O.K. I just read the rest of the posts.

As far as the bow-lingerie thing goes...I believe the women judge's big issue wasn't with the product, it was with the presentation.

I mean, you do all realize that the model was left standing there totally nude, don't you?

The model COULD have been wearing a body stocking and untied the bow - I think everyone's imagination could have filled in the blanks, so to speak.

She was outraged that the 2 women came on and had the model go totally nude.

The inventor could have even used a mannequin, but the presentation was totally inappropriate.

Moving on...

I loved the Here Comes Naia doll, I thought the woman and her daughter were classy ladies and the doll is just beautiful.

I, too, agree about the restroom door product. I'd buy more than one - purse, glove compartment, suitcase. Yes, I hope it gets marketed one way or another.

My son loved the football receiver product and thought it would be a good one for people who play.

I think the lady with alopecia had a great product for people with her condition and I'm glad they put her through.

This was especially a place where the woman judge was important, as I just don't think a woman being bald is the same as a man and I don't know if a man could really get the impact. Plus it's for other situations as well.

I do think the swing vote judge had an excellent point and I don't know about the market, but it does seem to be at least a niche market item.

I think all the judges have good and bad about them, but I agree a 2/2 vote as a no does seem unfair.

I do really like the show. I look forward to seeing how it progresses.

Was the bow lingerie woman completely nude when the bow came off? I mean, she could have worn little stickers and a g-string or something(not that I wanted to see all that) but I think I would have been offended to see a naked woman standing in front of me...did you see the looks on the guys faces when the bow came off? LOL:D
wonder when the second round will start? Are they gonna help them improve thier product for the next round or what?

They put "American Inventor" virtual-stickers over the model's top and bottom, but I think that was for the sake of the drama. She was wearing a thong that was visible after the woman judge stomped back with the coat, so the most she could have revealed was her top. Not that that wouldn't be offensive, but I think the judge really went overboard about it. Sure, it was tacky, but I just got the impression that because she's a feminist (owns a female-run company, publishes a woman's magazine, writes books about empowering women, etc.) she would have been offended by the concept of a woman displaying herself for her man, regardless of how it was presented.

I'm on a roll about that judge, so I'll just stop now. ;)

The next round, each finalist gets $50,000 to develop their product, and they will have workshops on marketing, quality control, etc. to help them. I think, anyway. There was another inventor show on a cable network and I read about both shows so I might be confusing them. The $50,000 development money is right for sure though.

I understood that the model was probably at least topless, but a simple "Please put your robe back on" would have sufficed instead of all that ridiculous carrying on that made more of a statement about the judge's own body image problems than anything else.

As someone who routinely wears a full headcovering, I didn't see the big deal about the wig liner thing. It didn't even cover the whole head and appeared to be backed with vinyl, which would cut down even more on air circulation.

I think the bald lady would be better off wearing a 100% cotton headscarf or inventing a better mesh-type wig base that would get more air to the head to help with sweat evaporation.

Seems like her adhesive head pad would be of much better use to helmet wearers (regardless of how much hair they have or don't have) because that type of headwear can't be adapted very well to help with sweat evaporation and still maintain its protective design, so something to absorb the sweat makes a whole lot more sense in that case.

This was my impression too....that she was personally offended by the idea, especially coming from other women. In any event, she couldn't remove her personal feelings/emotions out of the equation to see if it was a good product, which says to me that she's not a very good judge for this type of competition, IMO.

The bullet ball idea was pretty bad. It's astounding the guy has risked everything for that. That invention shows that, unlike American Idol, people are risking it all to be successful. For some people, the stakes are much higher.

I think one of the judges should have given the kid a yes vote just to make him feel a little better. It didn't have to be 4 no's.

The female judge is a little over the top. I can understand her being offended about the bow lingerie. It's almost like she was trying too hard to be outrageous for the cameras & for the show.

These are the three inventions I saw. Unfortunately, I think the show is not that great. It's more like a bad copy of American Idol. Maybe they should have made a completely original show so it doesn't look like a bad clone of AI.

I agree the freak out was more because the woman was standing there nekkid for the remainder of the presentation. It was just stupid. I would've been kinda mad about it too. Have the live girl wear it, to give a really good idea of fit, etc. But use a manequin to take it off.

I wouldn't have freaked out, but I would have rolled my eyes, said it was dumb, and said no. Very marketable, yes...but not for a "family hour" show, IYKWIM.

Okay first of all I'd like to say to the makers of AI, "STOP SPENDING SO MUCH TIME ON ONE PERSON AND SHOW US MORE ACTUAL INVENTIONS!" geez, they need to go into detail about every person's life and spend 10 min. on one person's voting... (um, ah, er, yes? no? ummmm....) , when they could move a little faster and show us some of the ones that made it to the next round!

Anyway...I'm done ranting. hehe. :sorry:

I liked the spelling game too, I would have liked to see them play it though.

I can't believe they let the paper woman through!

It looks like all she did was collect some samples of the kind of disposable paper liners she was talking about and then did her pitch.

If she's going to pitch it as bedding, she should have actually had a completely assembled set of bedding there for examination! :p

My husband's tired of all the sob stories  , most of which are not sob-worthy.

I think the paper-bedding woman intimidated herself through to the next round. If she's as stern and disrespectful next time, I don't see her going any farther.

I'm getting tired of the auditions - let's see the actual products that got through, and get on with it already. I think there's still one more week of auditions though.
