  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Here's what I don't get about Rod Stewart week. If they are really going to be featuring his remakes of the classics, as opposed to classic Rod Stewart... what's the point of making it Rod Stewart week? I mean, why not make it Classics week? Are they supposed to sing like they just chewed a pile of pebbles for lunch, so it sounds like the Classics in Rod Stewart style? I must be missing something...

It isn't "Rod Stewart week" per se. He is just helping them on their arrangements. And getting free publicity for his albums to boot!

I mean, really, they are not featuring currently top-of-the-chart artists coming in and coaching the finalists (because if they were doing that, I'd probably have no idea who they were ;) ), so there must be some kind of promo deal going on like they have on The Apprentice, where the show ends up being a commercial for entities like Arby's and 7-11.

Like we're really supposed to believe that The Donald eats (and loves!) Arby's sandwiches. :yum: ^_^

Okay, I guess it actually could be true (after all, ~I~ love Arby's :yum: ), but I doubt that Trump's love of Arby's sandwiches is why they got an hour-long commercial.

Regarding Simon and his girlfriend: I heard he doesn't stay with a girl for very long. He gets "bored" with the challenge of keeping it interesting. Can amyone say BIG LOSER. Maybe when the relationship gets serious, he heads for the door.

Well personally I'm glad it's not the current pop artists that they are featuring because I really don't care for most of that type of music. Not that I like Rod Stewart all that much...but still! :p
Yeah, I'm not even sure I'd know what current pop music sounds like. ^_^ I was never a big fan of Rod Stewart, either, though I did like some of his songs. It'll be interesting to see what songs the contestants end up singing this time.

Wow! I cannot believe it is 2007 already!! Where did the rest of 2006 go? I swear just yesterday it was Easter! ;) :D

Haven't he and Teri been together for quite a while? Like years? I thought I remember that on "Biography" though I could be wrong.

I don't know how much stock I put into the rumor mill about contestants and judges interacting offstage. From what I have read, that is actually NOT acceptable behavior--that is one reason everyone was salivating over Corey what-his-name talking about an affair with Paula to promote his book.

I think that Kellie genuinely has a large fan base. I know of people that just love her--hick accent, bubble-headedness, "fancy" clothes an' all. She has a fan club, too. :D

I know what you mean! I was thinking the same thing. Maybe the contestants have to smoke a pack of Marlboro Reds before they sing to get that very unique Rod Stewart sound.

Hey, I loved Rod "back in the day".;)

I agree if that's indeed how Simon really is. You can tell that he is just a "ladies man" and enjoys his flirting. That's what Teri's big problem was with him and Kellie. I think Teri and Simon have been together for 2 or 3 years though. Perhaps he is getting to that stage where you mentioned? God only knows what goes through his head.

My husband and his 6 year old always sing, Have I told you lately that I love you. It is so cute.

I will watch tonight and vote just to keep my guys in.

Saw something very interesting a preview for Idol regarding tonights show. Don't know if I means anythings but...
Remember in the beginning when the top 12 were introduced. They introduced them in a specific order. Well in the preview for tonights show they showed them in this order which was very similar to the top twelve order. Taylor, Chris, Kellie, Elliott, Paris, Ace and Katherine. Don't know if they is the singing order, or the elimination order with Katherine going first. Just an observation.

If Katherine goes, there is something seriously wrong.

That girl is so talented and I am not being biased. I can also tell you I am not biased b/c I think Chris is very talented and I do not even like his style of music.

Why in the world would Katherine not make it to the top three over Taylor, Elliot, Pickler, and Paris. I do not understand this phenomenon.

As I've said it is just an observation, not my personal preference. So far, the list of contestants with the exception of Mandisa, the elimination process has been pretty darn close to the way the top 12 were introduced. I personally think the top three should be Taylor, Chris and Katherine.

Speaking of Mandisa, let's just sit back for a moment and think of pure talent, vocal range, etc....

How IN THE WORLD did Mandisa get voted off in comparison to some of these men that are still in the competition? That girl had so much talent.

Me thinks AI should reconsider who votes.

I said it last year and I will say it again this year. Last year when Jessica went before Scott, then Constantine went before Scott, as well as some really talented singers, I said the show was rigged. The judges already knew who was being eliminated and in what order. Simon said several times last year he already chose who he "thought" would be the idol and he is hardly ever wrong.
Well watching this years idol (and I really don't think VFTW has anything to do with it) I think again they already have chosen who "they" want to be the idol and the entire voting thing is just a way to keep up the ratings and interest. IMO! I hope I'm wrong but I don't know if I could stand to watch another 3 seasons of this. :sorry:

I thought that at one time, but I am not entirely convinced of that.....I am, however, anxious to see what happens this year to see if I change my mind again...
