[1] Non-Nicene Theology is renamed Unorthodox Theology and moved to the Theology forum category;

[2] A fellowship forum is created for unorthodox members as a sub-forum of Unorthodox Theology;

[3] All existing unorthodox theology discussion threads are moved to the Unorthodox Theology forum; all existing threads in the unorthodox Congregations are moved to the fellowship sub-forum.

We go live January 31st.

Over the next month, staff will go in and clean up any promotion type posts or threads. Posts or threads older than 30 days will be left alone to scroll off the page, unless promotion is especially egregious. No violations will be issued for posts made prior to Jan. 31.

Promotion of non-Nicene beliefs will still be covered under the rules, and members will have to be careful to avoid promoting beliefs in the fellowship and theology forums. Posts intended to inform, rather than promote, are still allowed.

So, under what category would fall a response to "Why are you a Unitarian Christian"?

:|

I'd suggest that you could give your answers why...but continued discussions about the various points could be difficult.

I have no problem calling "Nicene" "Orthodox" and Non-Nicene "Unorthodox." I'm a very unorthodox person. So I take no offense... but my faith is EXTREMELY important to me, and I find it slanderous when people claim that I'm "not a real christian because I have a different understanding than them." That's not for any person to decide (read the bible account of not removing the straw from your brother's eye until there isn't a support beam in your own).

But, how will "promotion" be defined?

It's certainly reasonable to ask people not to say "Hey, you should leave your Nicene Church and come to mine"... but what will happen when someone says "After reading John 17, how can you believe in a trinity?"

Are we free to say "I believe this because of this" and discuss that? Or is discussing non-Nicene ways of thinking "promoting a cult?"

I CERTAINLY appreciate the fact that you guys are ACTUALLY discussing this... keeping in mind members you personally may not agree with... that gets you guys a LOT of respect in my book. I'm willing to stay long enough to see how this plays out considering there's a POSSIBILITY I'll still have a place to compare ideas...

kinda regret giving away 26,000 blessings though... but that's ok, I gave 'em to good people.

This is better than what I was going to suggest. I add my support to this.
