• CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

am i losing it ?

yesterday i was studying a picure of saddam in Time magizine. i was looking at his eyes, they seeme dsooo sad to me. it was like i could hear him begging "help me please i don t like who i am and what iam doing but i can t control myself help me help me. I had the strangest feeling that he knows he is controlled by demons (and has been for a long time) but they stop him from doing what he needs to be free of them. i thinnk he will kill himself when they are done with him.

ok say i am whacked but i felt such sorrow for the man.

Are you sure it was Saddam? He has quite a few actors that he uses as a double. They attend a lot of social and semi official functions in his place. They will even get some minor plastic surgery to look more like him.

I am not even so sure that our government knows who the real Saddam is. He has so many puppets out there speaking his words for him, incase someone were to take a shot at him.

Very strange. God must be wanting you to pray for him. At least that's what my mother would say. :)

The mind can be kinda a funny thing. I was up at Wendys a while ago, and I was looking at the big photo they have of Dave there. When he was alive, it was as if I could see a sparkle in his eye. But when I looked at that photo, I felt as if I was look at a photo like in a history book of someone who is no longer alive.

I thought, maybe they should run a double blind study and see if people can guess at a photo of people who are still alive, compared to a photos of people who are no longer living.

He deserves punishment, whether or not he thinks it's "his fault" or not. It's not like it's just Saddam I'd say that too. If a death-row person got saved, but he still deserved the death penalty.... then, he still deserves the death penalty. Sad as it is

Of course, we're supposed to pray for our enemies. :)

I would be incredibly interested in those results.

I have felt things like you are describing before... like I should feel compassion for someone who does so much harm to this world, but they do it because they are controlled by some other being that we can not see.

Though I do not feel sorry for Saddam, because I honestly feel that deep down inside he is a horrible person, controlled by "demons" or not...

As for the poster who said this could turn into a "will he go to heaven" thread... I will answer that now. No he will not, because he does not believe in heaven... therefore he won't go... sad but true

What you are saying sounds very much like what I read in the book: "Tortured for Christ". He did not feel a hatred for the people who tortured them, but saw them the way you saw Saddam and perhaps he even felt pitty for them.

Actually though, I think the author was a little wacky sometimes. But he was just trying to demonstrate a christ like attitude toward his enemy.
