am i going to hell, in your eyes?
i consider myself a christian.
i love God and follow Christ.
so why am i going to hell?

I gather from reading the various posts you are of the Mormon faith. Who said that you are going to hell? Did the person give any explanation as to why they believe this to be true?

It seems to me that deciding a person's eternal fate is up to God and not us mere mortals.

Sorry to say this, but Mormonism is a cult. If a Mormon can get to Heaven on there belief system as it currently stands, then the bible is in complete error on what it has revealed to us about salvation.

As you can determine from my other posts on this website, I seem to have led a rather sheltered life when it comes to other denominations / beliefs.

For the sake of clarity, what is the definition of a cult? How does the Mormon faith fit into that definition?

Also, my position was that determining who is going to heaven and who isn't is up to God, not us mere mortals. Is that incorrect?

Please understand I will be out of town for a few days and may not be able to respond with any possible follow-up questions as quickly as I would like.

Curious as always,

OldChurchGuy

Hi,
It is true that you will not go to hell if you are a true follower of Christ, but how do you know that the "Christ" that you follow is the one and only true Christ and not the highly but not perfectly similar substitute that Satan has produced, the Antichrist? This Satanic imitation of the true Christ is not a radically different image from the historic Christ as some imagine, but a very Christ-like false christ. What better deception could hell have conceived of? In order to ascertain whether or not the one whom you or I call "Lord" is in fact the true Lord of Glory, we must compare our experiences with this supposed "Christ" as to his allignment with the very Word of God which He himself inspired, or, the Scriptures. Now, if you can hold on to a Christ while believing opposite to Apostolic doctrine and still find that this "Christ" smiles upon all of that deceit....Let that "Christ" go and find the One who can only be known by believing the whole truth and nothing but the truth. His very name is "Truth".

Only you and God know the truth of your relationship with Him!
I can't answer your original question, but if you are in the Mormon faith, I would be concerned about your salvation.
Read the gospels, and ask Jesus to reveal the truth to you.
If you seek Him sincerely, He always answers!

Praying for you

FALSE PROPHETS IS ONE BIG TIP-OFF....

THIS COMES FROM AN APOLOGETICS SITE THAT I RANDOMLY GOOGLED. IF YOU WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT MORMONISM, JUST GOOGLE FAILED PROPHECIES BY THEIR FOUNDER JOESEPH SMITH. THERE IS TONS OF ARTICLES.

The tenth president and prophet of the LDS Church, Joseph Fielding Smith, said the following: “Mormonism, as it is called, must stand or fall on the story of Joseph Smith. He was either a prophet of God, divinely called, properly appointed and commissioned, or he was one of the biggest frauds this world has ever seen. There is no middle ground.” 1 This statement is very true, and goes to the heart of the debate on Mormonism. The LDS faith lives or dies on the authenticity – not only of Joseph Smith – but of all of the LDS prophets. If the LDS Church does not have a true, living prophet at its helm, then all of its claims of truth disintegrate. Deuteronomy 18:22 sets up a test for prophets. If anything they prophesy in the name of God does not occur, that person has “spoken presumptuously” and is not a true prophet. Furthermore, Paul says if anyone preaches another gospel than that which he and the apostles preached, that person should be eternally condemned (Galatians 1:8-9.) If you had to select one area to discuss with a Mormon friend, and only one, it should be the authenticity and validity of the LDS prophets. To discuss a comprehensive list of false LDS prophecies would take more room than we can afford in this article. We can, however, name a few.
  • Joseph Smith said that tall men dressed as Quakers live on the moon.
  • Brigham Young said that men live on the sun, as well.
  • Joseph Smith prophesied that Jesus would return by 1891.
  • Brigham Young prophesied that the Civil War would not free the slaves.
Here’s an excerpt from our response to the Mormon elder’s email in which we quoted some verses from the Book of Mormon that contradict Mormon doctrine:

Ex-Mormon James Spencer wrote, “Those of us who encounter heresy do so not because we enjoy it, but because it is necessary.” He goes on to say, “Cults thrive because the Church of Christ allows them to do business without intellectual challenge. We march with determination toward the Promised Land, ‘while the Devil takes the hindmost.’” You have decided to encounter heresy, and not concede to Satan a booty of human souls. You have chosen to carry the true gospel of Jesus Christ to those who need to hear it. Strengthen yourself through prayer and study, and may God bless you as you contend for Him.

Hey bloodfire:wave:
The amazing thing about the One true God, is that when He's with you, you won't need to ask a question such as "am i going to hell"? If God is in your life, you KNOW beyond the shadow of a doubt, that you are saved from the pits of hell. The Bible says in John 1:1- In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Therefore, for you to truly know God, you need to get into His Word. After you get into His Word, and you get an understanding of what Jesus is about, then compare what His Word (the Bible) says to what you Mormon faith teaches. If it doesn't line up with God's Word(which it doesnt), and you are following the Mormon teachings, truth is you CAN'T be a Christian. Christians follow Christ, and as in John 1:1 states, Christ is the Word, so you have to follow His Word to be a Christian.

With that being said, it's not too late for you to change and know the One True God, Jesus Christ. All you have to do is accept the truth, which is Jesus. There's alot of ppl that have posted the truth in this thread, now all you have to do is accept it. Be humble, open your heart and admit your mistakes and ask Jesus to show you the way. He will, just trust Him.

:prayer: Lord i pray that your Word, even though it's thru a computer screen, will go forth, and be accepted by Bloodfire. She seems willing to know You, so i pray that thru Your Word, and the conviction of the Holy Spirit, that her eyes would be open to Your way, and she will accept You as Lord of her life. Let this be another soul won for You Father, in Jesus Mighty name. Amen.

Be blessed Bloodfire.

Just to make sure I understand, a false prophet is one who makes a prediction which does not come true?

If so, was Paul a false prophet as he was expecting an imminent return of Jesus the Christ?

The answer to this is of course,no. Paul was not a false prophet because Jesus will return!

2 Peter 3: 8-10,' But do not forget this one thing, dear friends:With the Lord a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping His promise,as some understand slowness. He is patient with you,not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentence'.
