Some things change, because people change them. Some things change over time. But that doesn't mean there is any sort of "shift" or "time loop" or "parallel universe".

I very clearly remember a world where my best friends had a different surname. When I visit them now, there's a different name on their mailbox. That doesn't mean it's a different universe. It means they changed their name... and this change is documented.

I very clearly remember a world where it was winter of 1978. But when I look at my calender, it says: "2022". That doesn't mean it's a different universe. It means that times change... and this change is documented.

But when someone "remembers" living in a completely different world... a world where nothing that affects them had really changed, but they "remember" some trivia fact that is "different"... but there is NO hint of such a difference beyond the claims of people... that's something else.

It's not even a world that people live in their daily lifes. None of these people who make posts on the internet claiming "This road never had a third lane" or "there definitly was a landmass at the north pole"... they never tell the story of how they "remember" the car they just drove from the pub happened to belong to them, even if it now in this universe belongs to somebody else.

Which would make such a great excuse when you just got arrested for car theft.

That is exactly what I am talking about. Everything changes, so that your proposed "shift" leaves no traces that can be investigated.

Even if my memories would not align to "the current reality", I have no way to verify them. And as for others... I cannot read minds.

All that there is is your claim that memories cannot be false. That claim is... dubious. At best, it is unverifiable.

But still, given all that we know about the human mind, it is a lot more reasonable to assume that humans erred than that all of reality changed.

Consider (if you are capable of considering other people's points): no one ever makes this argument in cases where it counts.

You may deny the existence of "consequences"... and for things like people's names, they may be neglectable. For things like important historical events or geography or astronomical mechanics, they are not. They would definitly impact your life, if they were (or had been) real.

But names... well, "timelines are so similar". All that is changed is the name on the ownership document of a car. Neglectable.
I want to see anyone of the "reality is different" crowd tell that in front of a judge when they are accused of stealing a car.

See... that is your problem. You talk big about stuff, but you don't have a clue about the real world.

You really see everything as just trivia factiods that have no effect on your life. But in the real world, everything is connected. Nothing is without cause. Nothing is without effect.

A simple example. You linked to a story about a guy who suddenly found the road that he traveled all the time to have an additional lane. Does that affect him? Well... perhaps not directly.

But there is a cause why roads are build, where they are build and how they are build. They don't "just exist" willy-nilly.
So, somebody decided that this road needed more lanes. Why? Because there was more traffic? Why was there more traffic? Because more people lived there? More houses existed, more competition, less jobs, less parking, more trouble with infrastructure and social issues?

None of that would affect that guy, right? He wouldn't have to wonder why his taxes suddenly got up to pay for additional road that he never knew existed.

That's trivial. The moon? There is a reason why it is seen the way it is. A reason that you simply continue to ignore. That you don't "investigate". That you are not interested in.
Simply put: if you wouldn't be able to sometimes see the moon in unexpected (for you) places... you would never see it in the place you expected it to be.

But you don't understand that. And you don't care that you don't understand that.

Go and "investigate" the phases of the moon based on latitude. It's not something new and unknown. I won't make any judgement on why people just "suddenly" noticed that... but I dare say that some people might have noticed that the tides suddenly didn't work anymore.

But, again, what does a mom driving her daughter around know about tides? Heck, there are famous TV celebrities who don't know how they work.
