Well to be fair someone from Christchurch could do that slide and think his friends had gotten him drunk and taken him near the North tip of North Island. Well at least for a few hours.

Most Aussies and Kiwis spend enough time outside that the climate shift of New Zealand being North of Austrailia would be very obvious. I guess it could be possible for New Zealand to be at the same lattitude and Oz to be farther South. But then the penguins in Australia woudl be even more noticable.
