Allegory Contest

I had an idea, and I thought, why not post this idea, and see if anyone will be willing to do it or participate in it.

This idea was a writing contest. The judges I suppose would be whoever signs up to be a judge. Or we could ask the moderators of this forum. The writing contest is for Best Christian Fiction. The Awards include.

Best Concept
Best Male Character
Best Female Character
Best Writer
Best Science Fiction Story
Best Allegorical Story
Best Fantasy Story
Best Christian Fiction
Best Christian Non-Fiction

And more could be added later if we want. It's just something for fun I thought that would boost activity and give us writers something to do. The awards would be decided by the votes of the judges. Any entrants in the contest could not sign up to be judges. I myself would be an entrant. So how about it? Anyone interested? Otherwise all the awards go to me.

If you'd like to post a comment, please, I beg you, feel free to do so. If you want to sign up to be a judge, say so. If you want to be an entrant, please post saying that you want to participate, and we can all work out the details as to how to do this. So... how about it?

I think that's sound cool.... I wouldn't mind putting something in, but I'd rather be a judge. If this goes any place, let me know. I'd be more that happy to participate.

You're old enough. There is no age limit or grouping. If you want to join up, just join up. Give us your opinions. How could we do this?

Sounds pretty cool. Just a suggestion, though -- you might want to think of a theme, even a pretty general one. That way you'll have an easier standard to measure the stories by and it will help the writers get their wheels turning.

A theme... Any suggestions? I've listed the subcategories/awards for the contest. What did you mean by a theme? I also had an idea for prizes, but I only have 603 blessings in the bank, so that's not much in the way of a prize. Any suggestions for that? Or better yet, any donations? lol.

Oh, it doesn't have to be specific, just a guidepost for people as they write. "Inspiration" or "Lessons Learned" or "Fear," just whatever you think might spark some creative ideas.

A theme is absolutely not necessary if it's not what you had in mind--I'm just tossing it out there as something to chew on.

Well I figured the types of stories entered would depend on what the author's entering the contest wanted. That way it gave them some free room to think and create to their heart's desire. I now have 1,800 blessings to be split among the winners thanks to someone's donations. If anyone else would like to donate, please feel free to do so. Or what I might end up doing is creating a dummy account, so that all the blessings can just go to it.

It'll start as soon as we find out how to do this. I figure the contests could post their stories in the creative writing forum, and mark it with a speciall (AC) marker. Allegory Contest. Than the judges could browse, and read the different stories, and select their winners whenever we decided the contest should end.

It can begin now. But when should it end?

I say give them three weeks, but I don't think it should start now. You need to make sure you have enough contestants, and judges first. If you've done that then great go ahead and start! Just an idea....

You don't have to donate blessings, but if you did it would be appreciated.

You've got three weeks to decide what to enter, and then you've got to enter at least the prologue and character information for your story if you want to be an entrant.

Lessien, you can be a contestant or a judge if you want, but you can't be both, so decide what you want to do and let me know! lol.

If I made a mistake and you want to be removed from the list, post, if you want to be added to the list, post, if you like the list, that's fine. All the entrants have three weeks to work on their stories a bit. On May 16th the character info, and the prologue, is due. Post it in the creative writing forum with the letters AC in parenthesis in the title.

Those are the judges. You guys don't actually have to do anything until May 16th, unless of course you want to help recruite more judges.

So that's what we've gotten so far. You can still join if you want, as either an entrant or a judge, we'll be keeping the sign ups open until May 16th, that's when the judging shall begin. W00t!
