Well, unfortunately, usually these people squirrel away their money into various legal vehicles that make it untouchable. The guy will continue to live a luxurious life off the broken backs of the victim families he defames. He will shut down Info wars and start up something equally as absurd.

That’s what I don’t get. How are people so emotionally invested in someone so clearly morally bankrupt as Jones? How likely won’t pay anywhere near that amount but it’s a nice consolation to know hurtful, damaging lies will not go unpunished.

There is a term free speech. What seems to limit this is the possibility of being sued for liable.
At what point calling people murderers for giving people vaccines becomes a criminal offence or just a liable statement that would cost millions in legal fees to pursue?

There needs to be a point where endangering someones life by accusing them of a crime they did not commit must be answered.

No matter how delusional the speaker is, spreading such lies is already a social crime, which twitter and youtube etc are trying to censor for.

I wonder if a crime of being a serial liar, means all public statements from that individual can be struck off if there is any objection against them. They have to be whiter than white.

This would only be extreme cases like Alex Jones seems to have gone over this line 100%. Mocking a court case while it is going on, and slandering the justice system over a case where he has caused real harm seems totally crystal clear.

The real emotional story is, so and so is still speaking, because if it was not true, they would have been shut up. Because our system is so open, which no response and so much information instant access on the internet, closing this loop seems to be an imperative need.

As has been pointed out, this not a criminal trial. It is a civil case in which Jones is required to compensate for the hurt caused by his libel. The state is not involved; the case against Jones was brought by the people he lied about.

Of course it is not a leftist plot!
