I'm currently running Windows ME if that is any help.
From what I've ever heard, Windows ME will not be much help to you. :(

A good site to help you find similar problems that others have had is:

Sorry, I don't have an answer off hand...

Normaly if a cd rom is hooked up backwards (the ide cable that is) the cdrom will stay lit up. Rember the red wire on the power hook up goes toward the ide cable.

The cable may be switched on the mother board instead of on the cdroms them selves. Compare the cdrom ide cable with the hard drive cable to be sure it is hooked up properly.

Be sure to have one cdrom set to master and the other to slave. Even try changing them around, make the other one master and the other one slave. There can only be 2 items per cable, if you need to put one of the cdroms on the same cable as your hard drive.

Your problem is most likley the ide cabe being reversed somewhere though!

I would think the problem would more likely be a jumper setting problem. Most drives come either on cable select (the worst thing to happen to cpmputers) or master. Just make sure that the one on the end of the cable is set to master, and the one in the middle is on slave. There will be a small little guide somewhere on the cd label usually, showing you where to put the jumpers for the right setting. Sometimes the guide is actually etched into the metal just above the jumpers.

This is a little off-topic, but would you mind explaining why cs is so bad? My boss this summer loved it for Ghosting one drive to another and made me use it over the master/slave setting. I never really saw the attraction of it, but it rarely gave me problems, either, even on older computers.

I tend to always have problems with cs. It's just.. not very good... I like it best when I have a set master and slave, not them guessing which one is which. As I said, I've just had numerous problems with it... I could go into details if you liked, but it's pretty much along the lines of nothing showing up when using cs.
