Angels take or guide your soul, spirit up through the sky, the raqia and the waters above the earth to heaven. They use to take people down below to Sheol ( Abraham’s bosom) but when Jesus ascended to heaven after His Resurrection, He took all believers from Abraham's bosom to heaven.

So it was that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died and was buried.

But to each one of us grace was given according to the measure of Christ’s gift.

Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive, And gave gifts to men.”

(Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)

I didn't misquote the verse though.

If you had followed what I said in a previous comment, you would have noted that I explained that unbelievers perish when they die i.e. are returned to the dust from which God created them and so they are not in their graves at all, just as it was the case with Adam before them.

So when in John 5, all those who are in their graves will be raised, in fact, they are those who believe, who had been sleeping in their graves, waiting for Jesus Christ's return.

You misquoted the John 5:28-29 Scripture, because it goes directly against what you proposed, regardless of whether you referred to that Scripture or not. You can't have it one way in one Scripture, and then the opposite in another Scripture witness. Both... Scripture witnesses agree with earth other, so misquote one and you automatically misquote the other too.

You tell me, what part of what you read in those particular verses goes against what I said so far?

You said:
"... whereas those who do not believe remain condemned to die in their graves(perish/cease to exist)...."

What Jesus showed in John 5:28-29 and Revelation 20 goes directly against that above statement. Thus it is a misquote, because you also said that was per Ezekiel 18. Well, there's a thing called the New Testament Scriptures, so you might want to get up to speed because the old covenant is DEAD, NO MORE. And that perishing application under the old covenant is not the same idea as for the final Judgment of Rev.20.

Those who do not believe, the unbelievers, have been condemned to die in their graves (perish/cease to exist in their graves) so when they die, they are not in their graves because they become nothing at the point of death. Recall that Adam disbelieved God in the garden and for this, he was condemned to die. And since Adam did not eat from the Tree of Life so when he died, he became nothing(no after-life)

Ezekiel 18 is God reiterating this judgement which He made in Genesis 2, and pronounced in Genesis 3

In John 3, you are told that Jesus Christ did not come to abolish the judgement that God already had in place since the beginning. Instead, Jesus Christ came to offer salvation from that judgment to those who will choose to believe in Him. So, even to this day, unbelievers are condemned to die(return to the dust from which they were made). They are the one's referred to as the "dead" - though living they are dead since there end is here on earth(no afterlife).

In John 5, where Jesus Christ speaks of the resurrection, He was speaking of those who were in their graves, and from what has already been stated, it is not the unbelievers who are in their graves but the believers who are in their graves, sleeping, waiting for the return of Jesus Christ.

How would you answer the question: What happens after we die?
I would answer the question like this,

When a man dies the first death he rests in the grave( Matt 9:24, Mark 5:39, Luke 8:52-53; John 5:28-29; John 6:39-40; John 11:11-14,23-26; Acts 2:24-31; Acts 7:60; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Peter 3:18-19; Revelation 6:9-11; Revelation 14:13; 1 Kings 2:10; 1 Kings 11:43; 1 Kings 14:20; Job 7:21; Job 14:10-12, 21-22; Psalms 13:3; Psalm 16:10; Isaiah 26:19-21; Daniel 12:2) and his thoughts cease, and he has no more part in anything done under the sun. (Psalm 146:4, Ecclesiastes 9:5-6,10, Psalms 6:5). Everyone who has died, both the righteous and the unrighteous, sleep in Sheol/Hades/hell/the grave until Christ’s return, Paul, John, and Peter all tell us that those who have died in Christ have not yet gone to heaven yet but still rest/sleep(Acts 2:29; 1 Cor 11:30; 1 Cor 15:6,18,23,29; 1 Thess 4:13; Revelation 6:9-11; Revelation 14:13) we are told that only at Christ’s return will the dead in Christ be raised(Isaiah 26:19-21; Daniel 12:1-2; Matt 25:31-32; Luke 22:26-28; Acts 24:15; Romans 2:16; 1 Cor 15:51-52; 2 Cor 5:1-11; Philippians 3:8-11; 2 Timothy 4:1;1 Thess 4:16; Revelation 20:4-6) being judged by their works(Matt 12:36-37; Romans 14:12; Revelation 14:13). We are told that the wicked will receive the rewards for their deeds in the second resurrection(Daniel 12:2; Revelation 20:9,11-15) where the dead small and great will stand before the Lord(Romans 14:10; 2 Timothy 4:1; Revelation 20:12) giving account of themselves(Matt 12:36-37; Romans 14:12; 1 Peter 4:5) and being judged out of the books that are opened(Daniel 12:1; Revelation 20:12-13,15) everyone not found in the book of life will be cast into the Lake of Fire to suffer the second death(Ezekiel 18:20; Romans 6:23; James 1:15; Jude 13; Revelation 14:9-11; Revelation 20:12-15).

To sum it up:
1. The dead Sleep in Sheol(the abode of departed souls) at the moment of death.
2. They know nothing but are sleeping as a soul without a Body in death. This lasts until they are resurrected.
3. The Righteous Dead are raised in the first resurrection at Christ's return(before the thousand years) to live and reign with him in heaven.
4. After the thousand years the wicked are raised in the Second resurrection.
5. Christ returns with fire and destroys all sinners upon the earth(along with the heavens and earth).
6. The wicked, now as souls without bodies, stand to be judged out of the books. After which they are cast into the lake of fire to suffer torment forever and ever.
