  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

I retained a 'christian' electrician a few months back, by a few, I mean 6. I was to have work done, and paid a $250 50% deposit. A month later, I was told the wrong part was sent. Thereafter, I've heard nothing despite bi-weekly emails. I finally got a response when I threatened to post on facebook, google, and bbb with the issue. He promised to respond and stated he had an office issue and that I would be addressed shortly... 2 months ago.

While I'd like to post negative reviews on Facebook, Google, and file a BBB complaint, I have a few issues.

1.) 250 is insignificant to me, I really could care less
2.) we have a small community, and the negative reviews will surely do more than 250 in lost business damage.
3.) this person claims to be a christian, and has scriptures on his invoices
4.) this person has a family with young kids

I'm just irked... this is probably the 5th time I've been burned by so-called christian business. What would you do? I'm tempted to just file a bbb report and ask for a refund on principle, I don't want to cause a negative impact, but at the same time if you're running a business you need to run it like an adult.

Christians can be like anyone else, there are bad ones and there are scammy ones. I would go ahead and leave a factual review, not angry, not slandering, just state the facts. If he fixes the issues for you then you can go ahead and delete the reviews if you choose to. However, acting like this is wrong and he needs to be called on it.

I had a similar situation......although, I gave no attention to the religious they claim.

I gave months to fix the issue. Then I gave them a date that i would file with BBB if not resolved....Date passed and I filed......They fixed the issue, then I removed the complaint from BBB.

But my issue was big and important(affecting my whole family).....not sure I would do this for an amount of money that wasnt important to me.....

you are well within your rights to file a complaint. You can give him one final request for a refund with or else I am going to have to file a complaint and post a negative Yelp review. 6 months is far too long to wait. Many towns people use a Christian symbol as marketing tools and I have noticed many opportunist start attending a church and prospect the people for business and then move on to the next one. Your silence on this could cause someone else to get ripped off and you standing up for yourself might get him back in line. Many contractors are busy and he might be overbooked with higher paying jobs and has been putting you off and not really intending to rip you off. When you note 6 month has passed he will have to admit this is not reasonable. if he refused to refund you than he has revealed himself in a very shameful way.

For what it is worth, Facebook, Google, etc. reviews tend to get more traction these days when you are looking for action. The BBB is not an official bureau of anything, they are basically a for profit group that consumers can complain to and then the business can respond - if they want to pay the BBB.
