Hi everyone,

I'm sixteen years old and I live with non-Christian parents. For a while now I've wanted to fast from food, but I don't want to tell my parents because I've heard them talking about it before and I think they'll be horrified. They already have a very negative opinion on my faith and I think that introducing them to an idea like this could push them even further away. I've tried to fast in secret, as the Bible says we should, but I haven't been denying food that my parents have set before me. So I've had to keep starting again with my fasts and I'm not getting anywhere. If any of you are parents with teenagers, how would you feel about this? Is it deceptive of me not to share my feelings?

Thank you for listening!

My whole family has fasted even the kids(teens). If your parents are not in Christ and already disapprove it may be difficult. I would not let that stop me though. Just sit them down and explain what you want to do and why. Maybe introduce them first with the desire for the Daniel Fast, just vegetables and water for a day or two and progress from there.
