  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Looks like Android is set up like its progenitor, Linux. You would create a non-admin account for your use, then give access to the admin account exclusively to someone you trust.

I thought I would write again and say that I am still looking for a solution to address dangerous settings in smartphones that allow you to easily remove / disable software that prevents access to content that is not family friendly. Does anyone know how I can fix this problem?

If I don't get any more responses I might think that there is not a way to fix this, or that I should talk to people with deeper technical knowledge. Setting up a non-admin account for myself seems like a good idea, but I am still wondering if I restart the phone and push certain hardware keys to access the recovery menu and factory reset, that it would still be possible to erase the settings on the phone.

Someone recently suggested the XDA Developers forum, so I have been asking them if there is a way to write a custom version of Android with no factory reset and no safe mode available in the OS.

I thought I would check again for a solution to this problem which results in me not being able to use any smartphone at all and enjoy my favorite apps for good purposes. Can anyone respond to help lead me to a solution?

One idea I want to ask about is would it be possible to break the volume down button off the phone and remove it and have this done at a computer repair shop? For Android that would be a quick fix to this problem if this would be possible.
