  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If any one thinks that any leader is not a sinner than they are living in a utopian world.

Normally I would agree, but when the Evangelical Voting bloc for so many years has been so QUICK to assess the wages of sins for OTHERS in an unrelenting manner, it just seems that they could reserve some for the man whose very existence otherwise is as an affront to every Christian value ever listed.

For sure he's made many mistakes and bad calls of judgement in his personal life, but who hasn't?

Yup. Bad judgement call for those students who thought they were getting the advertised Trump University Experience when they gave him money and were subsequently defrauded. Bad judgement calls for the 3 women he's taken a "solemn vow" to stay faithful to. Bad judgement call for the many, many banks he's been so unreliable to that most of them won't lend him money anymore. Bad judgement calls abound.

His are just magnified by the exposure from his pre Presidential Life.

MOST of us don't get to "settle out of court" whenever we are charged with fraud or discriminatory housing practices. MOST of us don't have daddy swooping in breaking gaming laws to bail us out. MOST of us don't have a wealthy daddy who makes us millionaires at age 8.

However it seems that in his political life he seems to have a much better track record of doing right for the people.

There are a bunch of little kids on the southern border who might beg to differ. (But maybe they don't count because they aren't necessarily "good" people like some of the NeoNazis in Charlottesville...they're probably the "rapists" storming our borders with their drugs.

But I'd actually prefer if we addressed the idea that same sex couples can provide a loving and nurturing environment but that foster children DO NOT deserve that treatment because you think gays shouldn't have kids
.

YouTube search gay adoptions. You will find plenty of testimonials of such things.
No, they really cannot. It’s not God’s design for the family. So all they can do is model for them a sinful lifestyle.

Trump admin: Adoption agencies won’t be forced to give kids to same-sex couples | News | LifeSite

“The Trump administration announced Friday that it will not be enforcing Obama-era rules forcing faith-based adoption and foster agencies to place children in same-sex households, and proposed new rules specifically recognizing the religious and conscience rights of such organizations.”

And this is why so many evangelicals overlook many sinful actions and character flaws of President Trump.

Just in case you were wondering.
Because he discriminates against whole groups of people? Sounds to me like evangelicals are just showing their true colors in supporting Trump.

He is saying you can not shame someone who does not feel guilty.
If there’s nothing to feel guilty over, you can’t shame someone.

I think we're all aware that the evangelicals are holding their collective noses because Trump helps them foist their religious prohibitions on other people. But thanks for the reminder.
I have come to learn a particular fundamental truth about politics: The Libertarian notion of having a society where everyone leaves everyone alone and we all live our lives in peace is naive utopian nonsense.

The alternative to having MY values forced on everyone is having YOUR values forced on everyone. As such, I would rather have my values forced on you than have your values forced on me, and so I will vote that way every time.

I hope so. That’s the problem with so many evangelicals today. They want to capitulate their beliefs in order to be popular.

This why I think some Christian's are hypocrites. They allow most sinners to adopt. But not gay people. And this most immoral president should have the right to make rules on morals, since he has none.

Ultimately, I’d prefer it to be a Christian husband and wife. But a biblically married couple is the next best thing. Same-sex couples are not in God’s plan.

I appreciate your honesty, but other societies serve as evidence that your "fundamental truth" is nothing more than an opinion.

Neither is having kids be wards of the state.

This certainly makes sense from a Christian perspective. Some people are born an abomination to their God and it seems unfair to force them to treat abominations as people.

People should be free to exclude whomever they want from society based on their holy books' word.

That is what a pluralistic society looks like.

Nor are us unbelievers, any plans to exclude atheists from adopting?

Yet we have straight opposite sex couples who are raising children while treating that marriage vow as a joke. People who are beloved by the Religious Right who think the marriage vow is a suckers' game as they go galavanting with sex workers while their wife sits home with their latest baby.

Maybe marriages shouldn't be assessed based solely on the "gender" of the parties. Hmmmm.

Christianity assumes that everyone is in sin and under God's wrath.

Yes, sin is the problem.

Christianity assumes that everyone is in sin and under God's wrath.

But only a few are so far under God's wrath that they cannot even be considered to be adoption parents!

We surely ARE all sinners...but only SOME are so sinful that no one needs to be forbearant of them.

Yes, sin is the problem.

So should we keep SINNERS in general from adopting and raising children? I'd be OK if that were the bar. But SOME sinners shouldn't get to sit in judgement of OTHER sinners based on THE OTHERS' SINS.
