• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Trump admin: Adoption agencies won’t be forced to give kids to same-sex couples | News | LifeSite

“The Trump administration announced Friday that it will not be enforcing Obama-era rules forcing faith-based adoption and foster agencies to place children in same-sex households, and proposed new rules specifically recognizing the religious and conscience rights of such organizations.”

And this is why so many evangelicals overlook many sinful actions and character flaws of President Trump.

Just in case you were wondering.

I think we're all aware that the evangelicals are holding their collective noses because Trump helps them foist their religious prohibitions on other people. But thanks for the reminder.

Good for him!

If any one thinks that any leader is not a sinner than they are living in a utopian world. I would rather have the flaws exposed for all to see than to be presented with a false impression of one welding such power. He is right for such a time as this.

For sure he's made many mistakes and bad calls of judgement in his personal life, but who hasn't? His are just magnified by the exposure from his pre Presidential Life. However it seems that in his political life he seems to have a much better track record of doing right for the people.

I see many people on here subtly trying to shame evangelicals for supporting Trump. So if you all are aware, then many are being disingenuous.

I don't think there are many ways to shame evangelicals.

Whew! That's good news! I'd hate for a child living in a hotel on their own to be chained to a loving home with supportive care givers.

What a load of toss.

Yes. It is shameful for supporting someone who treats others so terribly just because you believe he massages your conscious now and then.

You might not be aware of how the foster/adoption system works.

You might be right

But I did work in the system for 8 years so in fact you are terribly wrong.

How did these children pay for hotel rooms?
The children didn't (what? Why would children pay for hotel room? Do children pay for foster placements?) There were no foster spaces available so they would be put up in hotels (sometimes for months at a stretch). It is INCREdiBLY common down south too. Government paid for the rooms; sometimes the kids would even be housed in the office (not up here in Canada but read about it down there). For older kids a social worker would check in every could days maybe and for little ones, workers would stay in the hotel.

For someone who speaks condescendingly towards me you'd think you'd ACTUALLY know the struggle.

But I'd actually prefer if we addressed the idea that same sex couples can provide a loving and nurturing environment but that foster children DO NOT deserve that treatment because you think gays shouldn't have kids
.

YouTube search gay adoptions. You will find plenty of testimonials of such things.

Those kids are out of the womb, so the timeframe for caring has expired.

That's the main problem though. They aren't even holding their noses. They're putting on a Breathe Right. Thread after thread of Trump supporters defending all his actions, and nary a whiff of condemnation about the bad stuff. When it's brought up to them, it's either a hand wave away, deflection, or just straight up ignoring it.

Belittling seems de rigor.
"Everyone sins"
What?!????
I know everyone sins but that doesnt mean the quality of everyone's character is the same. NOR does it excuse his behaviour.

I mourn the lack of discernment in favour of political preference....

I guess it is a good thing you are able to hand wave away his sin in order to use the power of government to enforce actions against those whom sin in a manner you do care about.

It's just so good that there are so many opposite-sex couples to adopt all the kids so that we don't "need" to rely on people that we find unappealing.
