So tell me Freodin, just what is it about Christians that you think they want to run your life? What would we have you do that is so counter to what you think you should be able to do?

Don't drink.
Don't smoke.
Worship 24/7.
Pay 10% of your income to the church.
Don't eat pork.
Don't have sex if you are not married.
If you are married, don't be "perverted".
Control what others do.
Don't be a homosexual.
Don't use drugs.
Exclude people because they follow other religions.

Shall I keep going?

You still haven't answered the question though, what makes you right about God and everybody else (including Christians of other denominations, other religions and atheists) wrong?

Christians do none of these things. It is up to the person and God. Now smoking is bad for health and nothing to do with religion. I am not sure what you mean by worship 24/7. Tithing is something that comes with faith and is up to the individual. Pre-marital sex is considered a sin, you have that one right. Many Christians have had sex prior to marriage. What do you mean by perverted. I guess I don't want to know. ;) Christians don't tell people not to be a homosexual, God does. Drugs are bad for health as well, unless you are talking about weed which is not considered to be bad and can have some benefits to mental health. We don't exclude people, we don't agree with their religion but we don't exclude them and treat them as we wish to be treated ourselves.

If there is one person I look up to, it is Terry Fox.

I love my wife and children. My wife and children love me.
When someone's wife cheats, and their kids get sick, and they lose everything, I suspect that they would look a little higher than to a one legged dead man, even if the guy was brave.

Well, when he does reveal himself to me, I will believe in him.

According to many people, god has never revealed himself to them either. And for billions, some other god revealed himself.
There are many spirits in the world. Maybe when people reveal themselves to God, He will do a little revealing also. In fact He already has, in the bible. People carrying large black umbrellas should not complain about not being able to see stars.

Rather than a huge 'to do' list as some requirement for being saved, I think of it more as a simple coming to God and asking. If we make progress in some areas after that, fine. Him living in us is what helps us change. Scruu the rules.

I didn't mention anything about myself in my previous post, and the personal grievances I have with religion and Christianity are thus quite irrelevant.

But Christians do a lot of things - different things in different societies to different people - that "runs their life". Sometimes explicitly, by making laws based on their religion - sometimes unknowingly, by simply having their grip on society.

Non-Christians are affected by the dominant religion of their society, often negatively. They are often excluded and ignored, sometimes more and sometimes less.

All this does indeed happen, and this should be enough to give people a reason to want to talk about it. Which was the question, and nothing more.

Many Christians believe evolution is true, and is the process God used to create life.

Many Christians also believe that some races are superior to others.

(The page count has gone up since I last posted so my apologies if this has been answered already.)

Racism can be found everywhere: in all nations, races and religions. The fact that some Christians are racist is not particularly noteworthy. There is nothing about Christianity that makes it particularly racist.

The image of a white Christian using his religion to justify racism is more of a national image (particularly in the US) than a religious one - what many people forget is that Christianity itself started in the Middle East, and that it was established in India and Ethiopia long before it was established in Europe.

Racism itself dates back centuries, if not millenia. Evolutionary theory did not start racism, but it was used (or rather misused) to justify it, even before Darwinism.

Incidently, AV1611VET's use of the term "Arab Phone" is not racist. The French use the term quite often and here in the UK we call it "Chinese Whispers".

Thank you, NSP.

They're just grabbing at straws to try to make me look bad.

Have you ever thought that unbelief is from you deluding yourself? How do you know that you are so adamant about hating the God of the Bible that you delude yourself into thinking that everyone that believes is deluded?

If, as a 60 year old adult, I told you that I still believed in Santa, the Tooth Fairy and leprechauns, would you consider that maybe I had a problem...?

Since I DON'T believe in any of those, am I "deluding myself" in my "unbelief"...?

Do I "hate" Santa because I no longer believe in him...?

Pretty silly isn't it...?

And, while we're on the topic, how do you KNOW that your belief in a god is accurate and not a delusion on your part...? How would a deluded person know when they are deluded...?

How would a deluded person know when they are deluded...?
They wouldn't, especially if they lived with other deluded people who thought they were far from deluded,
they would only discover they were deluded if they moved away from other deluded people.
Churches are specially designed to reinforce the delusion, a fresh coat of delusion is applied every Sunday,
after a while the coat becomes so thick it can resist all attempt to break through it, the tithe is then guaranteed.

Like I said if you have to argue by using things that you know are just children's stories then you are not reflecting your position as an intelligent and reasoned one. Rather you resort to childish nahnahnahnana types of argumentation.

I know I am not deluded for various reasons but the most compelling is a pray being answered that was using a rare event with others being present and a part of it.

Are you a 60 year old adult, if you don't mind me asking?

But how did I come to know that they are children's stories...? At some point, I was permitted or encouraged to cease believing them. Absent that permission or encouragement or urging why is it not feasible that people would continue to believe into their adulthood......as they do with gods of various kinds...?

Also, you can't all be correct...! Even if we grant that one god exists, the others must likewise be as silly as Santa or leprechauns....so which group of other adults 'believe' better than the others...?

I know I am not deluded for various reasons but the most compelling is a pray being answered that was using a rare event with others being present and a part of it.

Would you mind sharing the nature of that event which could be explained in no other way...?

Are you a 60 year old adult, if you don't mind me asking?

See that little black '60' up by my user name...?

That unfortunately was all part of your delusion, the truth often hurts.

I believed in God until I was about 12.

He never revealed himself. He is aware that he has never revealed himself. That is His choice, not mine.
