New one, I didn't know that.

I had been told the ELCA pastors tend to buy Volvos (but only if they are registered Democrats).

One of my DREAM CARS is a 1964 Avanti. I guess I fit right in. Others are a '63 Corvette and a '65 Jag XKE. Sounds like I'm one cool guy, huh? Of course, what I actually DRIVE is a white, 4 door Toyota Camry sedan with a 4 cyclinder engine and an automatic. And I actually like it.

Only one family at St. Paul that I can remember having a Volvo. They moved quite a few years ago. Not sure if anybody has a Volvo or not, but not that I know. . .

If Lutherans ever start doing TV commercials, you know like the Mormons and Methodist, they should do a scan across the college group in several Lutheran congregations - revealing a LOT of really, really cute girls (which should be very easy to find in any Lutheran congretation). Doesn't matter what is said during this commerical, no guys will be listening, just be sure to put the word "LUTHERAN" predominately on the screen during these scans.

Attendence will jump (all males, but that's okay), creating GREAT opportunities for evangelism and church growth.

I don't know what the "anti-church growth" Lutherans would think of this approach, I just know it would work.

:)

That must be St. Paul's problem!!! We don't have enough single females! Let's see. . .there's me and Kristen. We're the ones that tend to "always" be there. . .unless we have to be out of town or are sick. . .

Sometimes there's Erika and Christina.

Then, there's Marissa, but she's just in 9th grade at the moment!

Then, we get to the younger girls. . .like 10 and younger.

No wonder we have such problems ;) :p ;)

I have my favourite too. I call her 'ol Bess:
56wagonleftfrontclipped.jpg

She's a '56 Commander Parkview. The car sat in a shed for twenty-five years. I just took her on the first trial run today. Am I a car nut? You betcha! I mean, just look at my user name... :D ;)

The problem with cute Luthern girls seems to be that the Luthern men know a good thing when they see it. Hence, most of them are taken. 'Course, as old as I am, it would'nt do me any good in any case...;)

Oh, my!
I'm afraid that if you drive ol' Bess to church, you might not get too many Lutheran girls wanting a ride to the potluck.

Some of us are so cute that even Anglican men can't resist from all the way across the pond. ;)

C'mon now, be nice(LOL)! How do you think that YOU would look after being shut up in a shed for twenty-five years (LOL)???:D :D :D That picture was taken the day she was liberated from the shed. Though, I must truthfully admit, she doesn't look a whole lot better yet. I'm trying to get the mechanicals in order before working on body and paint. Still, she's fifty-one years old (like me) and looks pretty good for a survivor (unlike me). Just give me a year or two and she'll look more like this:

Of course, those are the next step up, the Pinehurst version. Mine is the middle version, the Parkview. I'll have her spruced up, and then you'll sing a different tune...;)

.

I don't think dangerously flirting with the 6th Commandment is a good out reach tactic for the Church.

I guess I have to do this. . .LOL

I'm probably about 50% or more German
Next, I'm Lithuanian

Then, I've got bits of English, Norweigen, Dutch, and Irish blood!

Yeah, and I have three Irish names. . .I know!

You know, it's funny really. My Grandmother was of German decent. Her mother came from Frankfurt am Main. In fact, the Hiemfardts were Hessian mercinaries during the American Revolution. Unwillingly on the wrong side... but I degress.
My Grandfather was of English and some Irish decent. Well, he was a major jerk too, but that's beside the point.
My Grandmother one time took me aside an evening, when my Grandfather was pontificating on his family's background, and told me the following;
"My dear, let me tell you something," she said pulling me into her lap and cuddling with me. An unusual and welcome priviledge. "You have a delightfully mixed background. On your father's side there's the Sioux indian people, and lots and lots of Irish. On our side is lots of German, some Irish, and not enough English to hurt."

No offense to the English in this forum. Had you known my Grandfather you might have agreed with the old dear.
Nonetheless, my Mum spent a lot of time in England prior to the war as she was quite the beauty. She modeled in Marshal's department store in Michigan and in two big stores in London. WWII ended that. In fact, she barely got back. The Gerrys (as she called them) started attacking shipping just after her ship sailed from Southhampton.
Not surprisingly our household, whilst I was growing up, was very British. When Dad bought the ranch it was like a weird cross between Green Acres and Have You Been Served.

Well I'm a mxture as well. I'm not sure what order but I would gues English-Irish-Cherokee Indian and German. I wished I were more indian, but we don't get those choses to we? :)

My childhood was very good. I spent a lot of time with my Dads father and mother and a fair amount of time with my other grand parents. They actually lived right accros the road from each other. The Cheokee comes from my moher side, and her maiden name was Savage. I don't know how that come about, I would guess it was picked up as a slang name that was handed them, which is kind of sad. Ameican Indians were certainly no worse then other people, but it seems that as America grew the lot of have had our bias on all sorts of people. :sigh:

My favorite TV shows when I grew up were cowboy and Indian shows. Real action shows without all the filth of what we have now days. Then as I became a eenager their were a lot of WWll shows, I liked those too. As it is I wantch less and less TV and send more and more time here. The fellowhip is nice, I have grown to really know all you folks as my brothers and sisters. :)
