• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Hello lovely people,

So, my OCD-style thoughts haven’t been at all as bad recently. I’ve been becoming more conscious of God’s grace and love in my life, and it is calming all my fears, which is great. However, there is one worry that I have, which began a while back, and I’m not even sure if this is the thread I should post this in. It’s just that I read this passage of Scripture:

"I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to these words, God will add to that person the disasters written about in this book.19 And if anyone takes away from the words of this book of prophecy, God will take away that one's share of the tree of life and of the holy city, which are written about in this book.”
Revelation 22:18-19 (NCV)

When I read this, it made me worry that I’ve accidentally added or taken away from His Word. I became really anxious, because the other day, I’d written a blog about God’s grace, and I was reading it out loud to my parents. I’d written certain things about grace and put relevant Scripture into brackets, but as I read it out loud, I felt like my parents would get confused that what I was saying was word-for-word Scripture, as I was mentioning verses and then reading out loud relevant things, so it was as if I was reciting Scripture. I’m not explaining this very well but it has made me really worry that I’ve added to God’s Word, and now I’m worried that I’m condemned.

I don’t think I really understand these verses in Scripture very much

This is OCD my friend, when we take a truth in scripture and exaggerate its meaning to the point that it becomes a fear and truly isn't what God intended it to mean. I truly believe the scripture you cited is a warning to someone who would DELIBERATELY and intentionally add to or in someway change the truths in Revelation. Not even close to what you are describing, but OCD causes us to often fear "warning scriptures" like this even when they don't even remotely apply to someone who respects the Word of God.
