Adding more character encodings

Hey all.

I'm using Windows XP SP 3 and my web browser is Firefox.

I would like to see and use more special character encodings.

Right now, most of them just appear as empty blocks.

Basically, what I'm saying is that nothing appears correctly on this page.

Facebook Symbols (cool text signs, emoticons & text pictures)

Is there anything I can do to update the characters I have?

I've tried Google, but after an hour or two, I got nowhere.

Did I not ask my question correctly or can it just not be done using Windows XP?
