Hi all, in acts 16 it speaks of a woman who "has a spirit that can tell her the future"

and it seems that she had a lot of success telling the future, but how could this evil spirit know the future when only God is all knowing?
What makes you think she could actually tell the future?

Do you think these fortune tellers we have today can actually tell the future?
Obviously they are charlatans, and they make you think they know certain things.
In :16 of the KJV it calls her a soothsayer.

It doesn't mean they are all knowing but enough knowing to deceive the people. Obviously they knew enough. It's akin to being on a high mountain and seeing two armies approach one another in the valley. You can tell what is coming geographically ahead of time than the army on the ground and can therefore tell where the army will go before hand. The evil spirits have a view in the spirit realm that allows them to tell things in the same manner. Leveraging this fact is an abomination and is condemned by God. But that hasn't stopped people for thousands of years from communing with evil spirits to gain advantage over their enemies.

Satan is the ruler of the earth, and causes events to occur here and to people. Evil spirits can "know" what is going to occur because they can make them occur. (Just like some who were able to heal that were not giving Jesus credit, evil spirits can cause afflictions and then remove them so the person follows that evil spirit, not God.)

The dark side cannot know what we think unless they are thoughts that they (satan and his minions) have impressed us to think or had someone else vocalize it for them. Satan tried this verbally with Jesus on the mount, remember?

Satan knows God's Word better than we do, so he does know what will occur in the world according to that, but only God knows everything.
