  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

But Ithat didn't see where there is a command to accept Jesus.
I guess wasn't clear in my response to 98. No, you're right, it doesn't say that there. I does answer one of the questions in your OP, but it definitely doesn't say that.

Actually, it doesn't answer any question I asked. It does say that we do receive Him, but does nor say that we are commanded to do so.

Romans 10: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

I notice John 1:12 was quoted back up in Post #2, I think it was. I've asked about this verse on a number of forums and so far have not received a satisfactory answer. Maybe someone here can explain it in a such a way that the light will come on in my mind.

John 1:2 says, But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.

Now the way I read that verse we don't become children of God because we believe -- we receive the right to become children of God because we believe. Am I reading that correctly? And if so how do we exercise that right to become the children of God? Apparently we don't exercise that right by believing because we don't have the right until we believe.

I'm not trying to proselytize or change anyone's mind. I'm just asking a question.
