One turns (repents) in his heart from unbelief to belief that Jesus is from God, and trusts Jesus for the forgiveness of his sin and acceptance with God.How does one accept Jesus as one's personal savior?
How does one accept Donald Trump or Joe Biden as their president? One turns (repents) in his heart from unbelief to belief that Jesus is from God, and trusts Jesus for the forgiveness of his sin and acceptance with God.
Then one turns his life to obedience of God.
I need to know him first, right? You need to believe he is alive after being killed for our sins like the bible says, and make Him Lord of your life inviting him to do so (confess with your mouth that He is your Lord).
"If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."
Then you need to follow Him (with his help).
I need to know him first, right?
Romans 10:15-17
13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
How does one accept Jesus as one's personal savior?
I can't accept and trust you, unless I know you, so what you said there does not sound realistic. You can't know God much unless you accept Him. You can know about the gospel but is different when the spirit of God makes you a new creature, (born again etc).
And then there is being filled with the Holy spirit like the disciples got.
I'm quoting what I hear people say, and so I am asking the question to hear their answer.-The Bible never states to accept Jesus a personal savior, unless you have a verse saying this. Now there are verses saying that Jesus is the savior.
Where can I find that? The Bible states again, again and again to believe in Jesus, to receive God's free gift of Eternal Life. and become a born again child of God.
I can't accept and trust you, unless I know you, so what you said there does not sound realistic.
Is there a scripture that says this?
Romans 10 says, 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
Learning about God comes first, before believing.
Do you disagree?
I'm quoting what I hear people say, and so I am asking the question to hear their answer.
Where can I find that?
I know Jesus said at John 17:3, ""And this is the way to have eternal life - to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth."
Not similar at all. . .How does one accept Donald Trump or Joe Biden as their president?
One needs to turn from not believing to believing, and trust them to lead the country.
Then turn to obeying the laws they set.
This sounds similar to your statements, although talking about two different things.
Making him one's Lord is in addition to his being one's Savior, he must first be one's Savior before he can be one's Lord, for he is not Lord of the unsaved.I would say there is more to it than that.
I can't accept someone and obey them if I do not know what they require of me.
To consider someone my Lord, I need to know what they stand for, and demand.
Yours, nor anyone else's "rejection" of the president has any effect on the presidency. He is president of the country whether you accept him or not.For example, I cannot enter a country, and not familiarize myself with the laws of that land.
If I do that, I cannot honestly say, I accept the president of that country... whom I may not even know, and obey their laws.
To know God... The Bible says you need knowledge.Yes you need to learn about the gospel but to know God you need His spirit.
This is a true statement, but it does not say "to know God you need His spirit"."But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness unto him; neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."
To know God... The Bible says you need knowledge.
Why did Jesus come to earth?
John 1:14, 18; John 18:37; John 17:6; Matthew 11:27; Matthew 20:28; 1 John 5:20
Sorry, I have to be countering you.
What the Bible actually says, is quite different to what people have been told.
Jesus came to earth to teach people the truth about God, so that they could come to know the father.
He was the light to the world.
He gave his followers spirit so that they could do the work he assigned, and finish it. John 15:26, 27; Acts 1:8
This is a true statement, but it does not say "to know God you need His spirit".
Imagine that Jesus, and the disciples taught persons about God, and they don't know God. 1 Corinthians 1:21; Galatians 4:8-11; 1 john 4:6
Imagine too that Judas Iscariot walked with Jesus; was taught by Jesus, and still did not know God? He knew God, yet betrayed Jesus.
Judas certainly did not have had God's spirit when he betrayed Jesus.
Did Israel know God?
Some places?-The Gospel of John some places in The Book of John: John chapter 3, John chapter 5, John chapter 6
Some places?
I looked every place. I see John 3:15, 16, for example, says "... so that everyone who believes in him will have eternal life. ...whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."
I don't see any verse saying to believe to "become a born again again child of God".
I must not be close to God then.I know because is like that, but all you need to know is about the gospels, and accept and believe in Jesus, you can't know God unless he gets close to you, and for that you need His Spirit, and you can't have His spirit unless you are born again.
Thanks. Is the quote from Jesus himself to Nicodemus.
Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[a]”
4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit. 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[b] gives birth to spirit. 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You[c] must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit
My question was.... How does one accept Jesus as one's personal savior? Not similar at all. . .
After the election, one doesn't have a choice about Donald Trump being President or not. . .he either is, or is not, the President of the U.S.
After the cross, one does have a choice regarding Jesus Christ being one's Savior or not. . .he either is, or is not, one's Savior, based on one's faith.
How can one accept Jesus as savior, if they have not accepted him as Lord?Making him one's Lord is in addition to his being one's Savior, he must first be one's Savior before he can be one's Lord, for he is not Lord of the unsaved.
Unless...Yours, nor anyone else's "rejection" of the president has any effect on the presidency. He is president of the country whether you accept him or not.
Just as yours, nor anyone else's "rejection" of the Savior has any effect on the Savior. He is Savior of the believers whether you accept him or not.
Thanks.
That is correct.
Jesus' little flock will see the kingdom. Luke 12:32
However, that is not the same thing as gaining everlasting life.
